:::::Possibly there may be some days with below $3 gasoline, but until alternative fuels are widespread, gasoline will be closer to $5.:::: What are those alternative fuels? Any idea?

SOMIS1 writes: Since Obama will be in office until early 2017, sure, the economy might get bad enough for it to happen. _____ Yes, let's remember the good ole days under Mr. Bush. Boy did he know how to run an economy.
As for $3+ gas, yes, it would be wonderful if we could fill up for $1.50/gal but it's not going to happen and that $3+ gallon does happen to help our economy because we're producing more and more domestic energy which produces jobs and makes us less dependent on foreign oil not to mention helping with the trade deficit.
But it's not really the cost of a gallon of fuel that's most important. It's the cost per mile. That's why the CAFE goals are so important. When we can make a gallon of fuel go further, then the cost of driving can be moderated. When it's time to replace our current rides, we can look forward to an array of automotive choices that are more fuel efficient, safer, and cleaner than what we've ever had.

Way behind us, hawkman. Way behind. If the current administration had their way, we would be paying above 5 bucks. And, they would jump for joy if it went all the way to 6 bucks.

It's been going down for a while now, slowly, but still down.. Some parts of the US are lucky enough to already be under $3 & hanging around $2.89 - $2.99 for Regular 87!

If enough hedge funds buy oil futures instead of US Treasuries, we can easily see a price collapse of gasoline. Its already occured. As long as Obama's monetary policy is to destroy the US currency, there is nothing stopping an oil price massacre.

Some gas stations here in NJ are at $2.99 again, but I don't think that will last long, especially with Summer coming.
