Krispy
What about if the oil company already has the gas in inventory?

"I really think that when they have a fire or an explosion at a refinery and a few people die and the price of fuel goes up a few milliion dollars to compensate for it that it was planned."

... so how is that refinery going to make money on that higher priced gas when they're completely shut down due to the explosion?

For example, lets say you have 5 refineries. All produce 5 million gallons of gas per day. Currently they're making $3.49 for each gallon of gas produced. That's a total of $87.475 million per day they make. One of those refineries has an explosion and shuts down. The price of gas jumps 30 cents and now the remaining refineries are making $3.79 for each gallon. Huge profits right? Except with the loss of the refinery, even with the price increase, they're only making $75.98 million, a difference of $11.495 million.

So to me, the idea that a refinery explosion is going to help the gas company make more is just bogus.

Oh, ok. When I lived in Manhatten I had a girlfriend who must have been a "mamalah". Actually, had two, now that I think about it. Never had to buy any gasoline while living in Manhatten since I didn't have or need a car in all the 6 years I lived there.

Tatalah. What does the word "tatalah" mean? I've never ever heard it or read it before, Tatalah. It sounds very Muslim to me.

"I find it hard to believe that since the peanut farmer gas shortage we haven't figured out a way to separate hydrogen from water inexpensively. It is almost 40 years."

It's called thermodynamic law. Education is a wonderful thing. You should try it Tatalah...

Maybe you don't think trillions of dollars is worth killing over to them? I really think that when they have a fire or an explosion at a refinery and a few people die and the price of fuel goes up a few milliion dollars to compensate for it that it was planned. It's just a few people!

CaptSquid has left you a message on your whiteboard.
"Peanut farmer gas shortage? When? Where? I never saw any gasoline shortages, even during the so-called Arab Oil Embargo. The first ship I served on made it's own oxygen daily and plumbed the hydrogen over the side -- inexpensively."

Captn You must be too young to remember the lines and odd and even days of the 70s during the Jimmie Baker, I mean Jimmie Carter administration.

And yes G.B. I can't see big oil allowing anybody to kill their cash cow that is worth TRILLIONS of dollars.

They'll be just fine.

The danger is that politicians and eco-idealogues who actually BELIEVE in "global warming" will use them as public relations fodder to keep promoting rate-payer and tax-payer subsidized "green energy."

The only thing "green" about all this "sustainable energy" is the wonderful profits these false prophets and crony capitalists make.

Producing hydrogen from water is a simple process. What the article did not explain was how much power it took to produce enough hydrogen to drive the car across country..

My bet is that what it cost them to do so is several times the price it would have taken to drive a conventional ICE auto with gasoline...

I would imagine the oil industry will ambush them on the way. Probably somewhere along the route where it is desolate and quiet. RIP

Okay; you posted a link to a news article.
What's the point of your post, or your perspective? Or are you simply saying that someone will kill them, and that's the point of your post?
