Gasoline vapors are suppose to be pretty bad to breath in. I'm just wondering what normal people think about it. On the rare occasion that I buy gas, I set the pump on and walk a few feet away and stay upwind if possible.

I usually keep my distance regardless. Diesel doesn't smell that bad compared to gas.

In most of California, there are no leaked fumes when refueling. There is a vapor seal at the fill port.

usually too much on my mind to worry about gas fumes. Been exposed to a myriad of chemicals my entire life for the minor amount of gas fumes that may come my way.

Gasoline pump nozzles are supposed to have a seal around the neck to reduce gas fumes reaching you although in many cases, the seals are not there.

No, only time I really worry about stuff like that is when filling the lawn mower if I run out while mowing and have to fil it while hot.

Last summer though, I did get a pretty good whiff of E85 straight from the filler on the car, haven't smelled a booze smell that strong since I quit working for the local Osco Drug, lol!

"Normal people" in my opinion don't worry about such a trivial subject as gasoline fumes while fueling a vehicle.
