Lots of red arrows(increases)on the heat map. We in Nevada have increased $.52 in the past month. How about your area?

What I have been reading on EIA is that refinery utilization went downt to under 84% last week. We also have a surplus of oil and gasoline in this country, however the oil barons are exporting it like gang busters. Looks like we have it then again we don't. Prices are supposed to peak at about $3.75 this year and go down to $3.47 next. We really need to get speculators out of the oil biz. I wonder how many banks are back in the game and not disclosing their portfolios???

Prices in Chicagoland have shot up 80 cents a gallon within the last month...there's absolutely no reason for prices to be going up like this...it's nothing but profiteering by the oil industry...somebody need to get a handle on these greedy aholes before they completely destroy the economy again...

Wyoming creeped just above $3.00 today. California went over $4.00. Any bets on $5.00 by the 4th of July?

Today gas prices nationwide have averaged a penny a day creep over the past month. Only one state is below $3.00 ( Wyoming) and it will probably be over that figure by the end of the week.
There is no apparent reason for gas prices to go up. At least not what I can find. Has any of our readers come across anything?

Oil prices spiking to pay for faulty equipment in the Gulf. Planned shut downs for at least 3 weeks for each drilling rig so the platform to well head can be inspected for faulty bolts made by GE. Just speculating.

The gas creep has made it to the national news. AAA has reported the current spike in gas prices is the highest in over a year. (ABC NEWS)
Just for fun, lets say the oil industry backed by investment firms, realized they were on a neg price run compared to last year.
So lets say they put their heads together and decrease refinery utilization by 15%, then they schedule routine maintenance. Now we have an artificial shortage of gasoline, and the investment firms jump on it and lie to their clientele, and say there really is a shortage. So here goes the great big gas price increases we saw last year.
Now the oil refiners and investment firms can say we did not end on a negative price position, even after all the gyrations we caused last year.Just a thought.

Just over the last 2 weeks, prices jumped from $3.15 to $3.71 in the Chicagoland area...prices not creeping up, but rather leaping, and as usual, there are no valid reasons for the huge jump....other than padding profits of course...

I find it truly amazing the price of gasoline has jumped as much as it has in the past week. Especially when there is no gas or oil shortages. True the syrian and egyptian mess may have something to do with it, but they don't provide much oil products to the world market. According to last weeks EIA report, refineries have slowed output production/utilization to less than 2007. Now according to all the oil experts on this web site there is no oil company collusion to control prices. Hah !!!! They, the oil companies, must think we are all stupid.
