There are advantages and disadvantages to the increase in oil production in the Dakota's. One is the fact that it makes much less premium than the old WTI sourced oil or the import stuff. As a result you will continue to see premium prices seperate from regular prices.

Volumes are down however the overhead is the same. Only one variable remains to solve the equation, raise the margin. Thus in order to bring down prices you should start buying more. Aint that a quandary?

Gas prices are increasing in my area with a new twist. The price difference per grade of gasoline is $.10 to $.14. Add that to changing prices up to four times a day and different pricing for cash versus credit (except non-ethanol which is always the same) and it gets very confusing. The only road sign prices are 10% ethanol 87 Octane Regular and Diesel fuel. It is the case of "Let the buyer beware".

Up over thirty cents in the last three weeks. This needs to be looked at, or this economy and our pocket books are looking gloomy at best.

Badger2, regarding excuses/reasons/rationalizations for gas increases, you neglected the most powerful and persuasive of them all:
IT'S GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT!!

Some excuses the traders are using so far: l. Refinery maintenance 2. Rebounding economy 3. Spring driving season 4. Icy roads in some areas slowed deliveries 5. Positive outlook for China's economy

And I assume you'll be, as you've been doing for the past seven you've been a Gas Buddy member, posting these price
Sorry, but what does "It's only January..." have to do with spring/summer prices if you're not adding anything to your post other than "FORWARD WE GO!!! WOOOOO HOOO!!!"
It makes anything you're saying sound less than worthy of reading.
