Of those two, what truly draws you into a gas station? Is it price or the brand of fuel? Also, if you have a favorite station that is consistently cheap, how much cheaper would another station in your area have to be before you would change your habits?

Price, price, price unless the difference is only a few cents. I've been buying gas at Sam's Club or at a Mobil station that is competing on price with a nearby Thornton station.

Most stations no matter what their brands use gasolines from the same refinery. Retail branding is just marketing.

Both. cheap gas could lead to problems to your engine years down the road, I rather use top-tier gas that's priced somewhat cheap.

Price, for the most part. A clean, high-volume station is also important, but I find that the 'nicer' stations around here are also the ones with competitive prices.

Neither.

Station has to be clean and serve relatively high volume which indicates their product is fresh and not bad enough to drive the locals away.

As for my regular haunts I keep a log book each of my vehicles and if any source drops in MPG it gets a strike. Repeat and it strikes out. Local Kangaroo and Exxon are off my list. Exxon has regrouped under Mapco so perhaps they've fixed their quality problem. Walmart/Murphy diesel is also on my bad list.

Kangaroo has one of the biggest stations in town that used to have a line waiting to get in. Not any more. When your dirtbike doesn't like the swill they sell from the 93 octane hose you know they have a problem.

Sam's Club and Chevron gasoline, Kroger diesel, are my most common selections these days.

Brand due to rewards and discount card, after checking GasBuddy for best local price of that brand.

Both. I use a fuel additive every 3,000 miles to clean my fuel system just because most stations do have ethanol added.
