Don't clown costumes have a zipper like regular pants? If they don't, I can readily see your predicament. No pun intended.

I only ran out of gas once and it was a service station loaner. I drove it less than 10 minutes before it ran out of gas.

you'll clog your fuel filter, or overheat the electric fuel pump in the fuel tank

Running out of gas would be strange enough because, after all you have a gas gauge.

Never run out of gas. I have this gauge in my car that indicates how much gas I have. You guys should get one.

Ever run out of gas in a cruiser? That's embarrassing! And the jerk attendant at a nearby gas station wouldn't loan me a gas can. He could only SELL one of those cheap plastic ones--at about $7.50.
The station owners know they've got people in a desperate situation.
Then I had to put a few gallons into the cruiser, in uniform, and pay cash out of my own wallet.
At least I didn't get a call during the mess. ("Hey, Operations? I can't respond to that crime-in-progress. Got a little problem here....")

Yeah, I saw you on my way to Dothan. But, no way was I going to stop and give you a ride. Clowns scare me.

Ran out of gas and coasted off the highway to stop right across the road from an army base. Left the wife and kids in the travel trailer we were towing and hitched to get a can of gas. When I got back a Jeeo gull of soldiers were guarding my truck and trailer and gave me hell for "abandoning" her. Told them I did so in front of the safest place in the USA, and fetched them a cold dozen from the cooler. Everyone was happy.

While pulling an 11,000 gallon (CDN) or 50,000 litre tanker on the highway I ran out of diesel fuel and had to wait while it was brought 45 miles out to me.

I haven't run out of gas often enough to have anything strange happen.

This happened to me when I was driving someone elses vehicle recently and the gas gauge said it had 1/4 tank of gas in it, but I ran out and had to walk about a mile to get my truck and go put some gas into this piece of junk. It was cold that day and I had a light jacket on which caused me to become very chilled in the process of doing this. I usually don't drive other individuals vehicles and I certainly don't want them driving mine. A lot of people don't maintain and keep their vehicles with at least a 1/2 tank of gas in them like I do.

What, exactly, does this topic have to do in the General Gas Talk discussion category?
General Gas Talk is for general talk about gas stations, fuel, oil, etc.
Maybe this would be a better topic, and it's just a suggestion, in the Off Topic or Just For Fun discussion categories.
