Long-term prices keep creeping up. I think the days of $2.50 per gallon will now be considered "back in the day", just like black and white television shows.

I certainly don't think things are getting better. So I guess I would say they are getting worse. And just wait until Obamacare is in full swing.

this is the time of year the big wall st banks start making their 2014 forecasts. most are predicting continued economic growth. economic growth will eventually result in higher commodity prices so get ready, come summer gas prices are likely to be higher than they were last year.

Heck, we're all gonna get free healthcare soon, and we'll have lots of new friends and neighbors from Mexico and points further south. And lots and lots of companies are going to be offering us nice jobs of 29-hours a week, which is a heck of a lot easier than having to slave away for 40 hours a week, isn't it?

Better and better all the time. Thanks for everything, Barry!

Grumpycat, that printed money is big bucks for the megabankers. They, along with the Chinese, Saudis, and others, keep racking up their earnings in interest. We will pay for it, not only in Federal interest payments, but also with inflationary dollars.

$17T with expected $20T Federal debt by the time we have a chance to replace Obama?

Things are looking really bad.

$10T in new debt in 8 years. Think about how long it will take to pay that back? What if instead of adding $1T in new debt each year we paid $1T off the debt? Rather than spend $3.5T/year on $2.5T income we only spent $1.5T and paid off $1T of debt? Government would have to cut down to 1/3rd its current size and IT WILL STILL TAKE 20 YEARS to get out of debt.

Progressive Leftists don't think the government has to pay it back, but every dollar the government spends is a dollar you and I can not spend. You and I buy things of worth that improves our lives. Government does the same, spends money on things which perpetuate the government.

The Market dictates this for you folks. Market says we are getting better but a ways to go. For you second recession thinkers. I hope you understand by now that it is off the table.

I filled up yesterday in Calais at Citgo and drove to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. My gas mileage decreased about 10 per cent from what I was getting on the drive to Calais. I would think it was probably because of the 10% Ethanol the EPA is putting into US gas. I would have been better off crossing into Canada and gassing up in New Brunswick.

I think gas prices are doomed to go higher and higher without an alternative. There could be an infinite supply of oil in the Earth but if it gets harder and harder to reach/extract/refine, we are going to pay more and more and more. Much of the "easy oil" has been tapped already. Now we're digging up truckloads of "tar sands" and fracking deep geological structures to tease out more natural resources. Maybe in 100 years we'll be able to drill 500 miles down and find other goodies but who's going to pay for that? It's definitely not going to get cheaper.

With the economy, very slowly better. With the country, and our corrupt government, worse, although admitting to the rot may be a first step toward fixing it.

Sneakers55: "Things are better than the Republicans will ever admit."

Open borders, rudderless foreign policy, drone attacks & consequent hatred of U.S., money lost in "green energy," forestalling the KeystoneXL, Obamacare's costs, Fast & Furious and other DOJ transgressions, and most of all: expanding EBT & welfare, huge deficits and money printing.

Sneaker55, I think things are more dangerous than liberals will ever acknowledge.

dooberdoof17 observes, "wow surprised how conservative/republican this forum is!!"

But of course! This is populated by people who have to be responsible for their own money. Now if we were flush with ebt cards "green energy" subsidies, bank bailouts, and other free money, we wouldn't care so much.

Example: when I go shopping, I am careful to combine coupons with store specials. I asked cashiers if they ever sees people using EBT with coupons. They all reply, "never."
