anapeg- with PetroCan..there were certianly pigs at the trough...but at least a portion of profits went into the public purse.
besides that was `nationalizing` a single company... not the resource.. almost every other country in the world controls its oil resource..we need to nationalize the entire resource.

What are you wow wowing about, that is still roughly $4.00 per gallon, and I don't think that is a deal at all.

.. $2.90 here in USA would be about $3.65 for Canadian/British 5 quart gallon... which is what, about $.80/Litre..?

gougedQC; that was tried when during the Trudeau years they bought PetroCan, remember? They where going to keep big oil honest and ended up at the same trough feeding with the rest. Then Mulroney, in his infinite wisdom sold it, lock, stock and barrel to his cronies at bargain basement prices.
OceanArcher; the only boundary's that differ between Canadian pricing and American pricing is how much crap Canadians are content to swallow on any given day when force fed by our elected officials. Americans would not tolerate it. We bitch about it. Try $5.75 a gallon on and see if that does not warm the cockles of your heart.

Well, there's a big difference in prices up there in Canada, but then again, there's a big difference in pricing between California and Mississippi also. Guess Canada's pricing boundaries are closer together ...

montreal prices are often 15 cents more dear than Ontario prices...I have often seen 20 and sometime 25c difference, and once 28c difference on the same day...per litre..
It is time for Canada to nationalize oil..like almost every other country in the world that has oil resources.

BuzzLOL wonders "What part of CanuckLand are you in? Or is that a secret?"
Since the last line of Bellegueule's post gives their location ("Laval, Qc, Canada"), I don't think it's much of a secret. Laval is in the Montreal metro area.

Now make sure you keep those tar sands up there too, and maybe you will get an even bigger discount next time!

$1.30 per litre equates to about $5.98 per Canadian gallon. So - .60 is a WOW moment up here. We are somewhat accustomed to the "rape" up here as we pay more for everything from autos to milk. 13% tax on top of everything else hits the wallet heavy.

That's why the Canadian average is high. We are 112.9 in Swan River, Manitobawhich is 2 cents less than Prov high.

I'm not feeling the joy for $4.24 a gallon! What were the prices before this miraculous drop?

Those Canadians are going crazy again. Keep an eye on them. Don't let 'em mingle amongst us down here. Stop them at the border.

The problem with yelling Wow !!! is that there are many gas stations in Laval that are sellign gas for $1.39 and there have been others that were selling for $1.25, apparently before the WoW !!! began. it seems that this price drop is gas station specific, not across the board.

GasBuddy, in all fairness, if gas prices went down the equivalent of 52 cents per gallon here, I'd be just as ecstatic as this guy is. I can't blame him for his enthusiasm. Lol. If they went down 52 cents here, I'd be paying $2.86/gal.

The price of gas around me drops .60 a gallon and it would be a WOW moment for me also. I sure as hell would want to let folks know as well. Bellegueule, salut, we have hovered around 1.25 to 1.30 in Sault Ste. Marie since September.

You, a long time Gas Buddy member, actually started a topic named "WOW !!!" multiple times?
And that's supposed to get people to pay attention to a topic?
What's it got to do with General Gas Talk?
