Do any of you ever encounter stations that have different prices on signs from their pumps? I can see how some can get caught in the moment of transition, but I've seen one that has posted an out-of-date price for several days. It gives you a pleasant surprise to find a slightly lower price per gallon if you're filling up there, but I'd think they'd draw more customers in if they advertised the lower price (only a penny or two, but crosses below a psychologically important "even 10").

No.

It's been consistent. The sign prices have matched the pump prices.

Most of my encounter is the stations showing a cash price on the advertisement and when you go to the pump you realize the need for specific manufacturers credit or cash.

I haven't seen that in a long time. With more and more electronic signs I expect it will be seen even less.

Sometimes the pumps are lower than the signs. Not often though.

Yes, and when I bought gas from Sunoco, it actually was five cents cheaper at the pumps.

A lot of them in this area have electronic signs now and the prices are correct. We don't have any stations that do that as far as I know.

In Texas, the price on the pump cannot legally be higher than the price on the sign. However, the price on the sign can be higher than the price on the pump. We had a station around here that for a while had a higher price on their sign. When this was pointed out, they corrected things by resetting the price on the pump to match the price on the sign.

sometimes -- bigger problem is the stations that let the wind blow the numbers down and then do not put them back up - I guess it keeps you guessing

I never see differences between the signs and the pumps in MA. MA crucifies stations that have even a small discrepancy.

I have occasionally. Once, I came across a station that had it's premium cheaper than it's midgrade and the price listed on the sign, but unfortunately, I didn't realize it until I'd filled up. Another time, I came across a station that had higher prices at the pump than on the sign, so I didn't bother buying from them and left.

I know here in Calgary we have some stations that have special prices on some days of the week. They leave the posted price the high price.

I saw a sign the other day really messed up. And it wasn't an electric version.

The are prices were $3.75 cash, $3.85 credit. But someone changed the prices on Cash to $3.97. OPPSS!

.. If their sign price was attractive enough for you to stop in, and they're actually selling even lower, then don't worry about it... but post the lowest price here that is obtainable without paying some kind of irritating 'membership fee'...

.. Some stations (like Kroger, Meijer, etc.) give a discount on the pump if you use their free store card and/or certain credit cards... buying other things in their stores that their computer keeps track of may give even further discounts per gallon...

If it is a chain, email the head office, the sign will probably get "fixed" within a few days.

Yes. One corner station sometimes even has different prices on the signs on the different roads, and they may stay that way for a few days.
