I don't have the opportunity to experiment with this. The local Wawa tends to have the cheapest fuel, so any variability in gas would probably be more than offset by the cheaper price.

It is not the gas, it is the additives each company puts in. I have heard that Shell is one of the best. Something about a TOP TIER gasoline.

Usually use the same stations to fill up so I don't know.
I use Chevron and Costco the most.

I'm not sure one brand provides more mileage than another. I am sure one brand provides better performance than others........and helps keep injectors cleaner.

I bought a new Honda Fit which is more sensitive to gas mileage changes, such as different brands, octane and the such. I am in the process of checking different brands. Lately, from QT, and Circle K my mileage has dropped after using Chevron. How much has this to do with the colder temperatures I don't know. My next tank will be Chevron to see if it goes back up. I realize that the gas comes from the same place, but the additives makes the difference.

I cannot believe this post and the ones that answered it. Gas is gas and it all comes from one terminal nearest to your location, and most of the time doesn't have any additional additives in it. We only have one terminal in this location that supplies all of Central Kentucky with gasoline. Talk to any reliable tanker driver and he will tell you the same thing. Brand names mean absolutely nothing.

People out there actually believe this? Also, I don't understand the original post... Who's getting 280-330 MPG? Unless that's metric or something? I buy the cheapest gas available. Brands mean nothing to me. Is there a super-slight difference? Probably. Is it worth 10-20 cents per gallon more, as some of the "name" stations sometimes are? No way.

Hello nycztony85. I only use one "brand" of gasoline sold by Garvin Oil Company, through their 25 locations called Kent's Korner. I strictly use 87 Octane Regular non-ethanol and have seen up to to 41.7 MPG. Within the ethanol realm, I think driving habits and traffic conditions attribute to better/worse miles per gallon than a brand name. Take care :-) . MGY

Mileage variances are more appopriately attributable to driving conditions, that can vary from day to day. Variances due to brand of gas, would have to be tested under very controlled conditions.

think you get a little better mpg with higher octane? But cost per mile ,shop for the best buy. support the lowest priced for moral reasons.
