Shell with Kroger Plus rewards points is usually the cheapest Top Tier Gas (or any gas, FWIW) around here.

Out on the road, I get Phillips 66 or Shell as a matter of routine.

For me this is all about the lowest priced, reasonable to best quality fuel, available at a convenient location and the appropriate time.

Brands purchased for my daily driver (diesel) thus far in 2013...

Meijer (7)
Kroger (5)
Shell (4)
County Market (2)
Marathon (2)
Speedway (2)
Casey's
Freedom
Mobil
Schnuck's Express

I am not sure what brand the next purchase will be...

Typically Kroger and Murphy USA...mainly because we shop at Kroger and I use my fuel points, and at Murphy USA because I have a Walmart Discover card, which discounts gas (15 cents/gallon right now).

Safeway, because they have a gasoline station right along side of their market where I shop, anyway. It is convenient and they give you 10 cents off every single gallon you purchase if your food purchases exceed 50 clams. I know I could get a better deal shopping at WalMart and forgetting the 10 cents off per gallon. But, those people at WalMart are just scary to me.

Cheapest. Tends to be from the Stop and Shop grocery chain's stations, since we earn a discount with grocery store rewards.

The most inexpensive I can find (within reason). I won't trek across town to save a few pennies a gallon.
