Where I live Shell is the most expensive station but I always see people buying fuel there even when another brand across the street is as much as 15 to 20 cents cheaper. It usually is only a 5-10 cent spread but i have seen it at the 20 cent spread. Just wondering if there are a lot on this site that are loyalty to one brand.

I usually shop wherever is cheapest. Usually that is Costco in my area. Although I get a fair amount at BP.

Shell is the cheapest Top TIer Gas around here with my Kroger Plus Card discount. However, when I'm on the road, I typically get Conoco, Phillips 66, or Shell.

I try to buy at ExxonMobil stations where I can use my ExxonMobil "Smart Card" which gives me a $.06 per gallon rebate at all ExxonMobil stations.

That makes my net price for quality gas very competitive with any of the lowball options out there.

And, if a particular ExxonMobil station in a market also offers a discount for cash, I also automatically receive the lower cash price when I use the ExxonMobil "Smart Card," even though it's a credit card.

I buy Sunoco when I can. After that, it depends on where I am. In the midwest, I'll use Shell and in the West, Conoco.

I used to be a Chevron fan but now they choose to stick out like a price-gouging sore thumb in my area.

The Chevron 5 blocks from me is @ FOUR EIGHTY FIVE (!!!) while everything else is around $3.40. Needless to say, it's not exactly jammed w/ customers; WTF are they thinking???

When the gas prices went beyond $3, that's it I would go to the one I know gives me the best price. Knowing about having gasbuddy on your smartphone, priceless. Never looked back.

I own a small business, and I appreciate that my customers are loyal and come to me to have work done, even if it is cheaper to go somewhere else.

Following with that same logic, I am loyal to a few of different stations for different reasons. Two of them allow me to pump first, then pay, which shows mew that the station owner trust the people who come in and buy fuel, and the other is the location. Little things, but they do make a difference. When I am only saving a penny or two per gallon, the total amount saved is only 15 to 20 cents per fill-up. I would hope that my customers wouldn't hire someone new over a bid that was higher than the next guy's by less than a dollar.
