Sometimes stations within a few blocks of each other would have "price wars" that would drive down the prices in a small area to the low 20C to high teen per gallon range. One time only, just before I was old enough to drive, I saw price war gasoline for 12 or 15C but that didn't last long.

It's hard to believe that back then I would could pull into a gas station to fill up for less than $5.00 and the service attendant would wash the windows and check the oil. I wonder if there any full service stations around anymore??
