Nope. My gasser engine is designed to run on 87 and calibrated to expect it. Anything more is useless...Anything less, it'll retard timing to compensate
Diesel is different. The higher the cetane, the better

No!!!! If your vehicle is designed to run on regular there is no benefit to using a higher octane other than benefitting the station owner or oil company's profits.

To the original poster, you have to remember that regular costs $4.85 a gallon here in Vancouver already, yes 94 octane is more expensive, but comparing it to 92 in Seattle isn't fair... our regular is $.85 more than Seattle's 92.
