I have notice the price difference between cash & credit. For a long time, it was usually around 4 to 6 cents more per gallon. Now at a few stations it is up 14 to 16 cents per gallon. Are the credit card companies squeezing the gas stations and/or the gas stations just charging to get more money from the public.

The simplest way to handle this problem for all concerned is to pass a federal/national law that mandates the cost of credit to be shown separate from the item purchased. Also gas is the only item that the advertised price includes the taxes. Just about every other product is sold plus taxes. Is
there a law that requires the taxes be included in the advertised price for gas? Or is it mandated by the oil companies to dealer to include the taxes in the price? I don't recall ever seeing a station that advertised their gas at a price plus taxes.

Yes, but getting the station owners from trying to sneak in the same price for cash and credit is a reportable offense and I will report the user doing so to Gasbuddy.

I very much notice. Never pay with credit when cash is an option unless I have an incredibly steep discount that makes the credit price still lower than cash (for example once I had a $3.00 / gallon discount to Shell so the cash price was .39 cents a gallon and credit was .69 a gallon).

A majority of the stations around here with different cash/credit pricing charge the prevailing fuel price for cash (or sometimes their cash card, gift card, or proprietary credit card) and they charge a higher than prevailing price for credit. Some of them do offer a price that is less than the prevailing price for their lower price (however you get it) and the prevailing price for their higher price. I hope the natives around here know better than to buy fuel at the first category. And especially don't buy gas on NASA Parkway!

magpie2013 - "Here in WI. its is anywhere between 4 to 10 cent difference. Wont pay it give them cash and only a little, we tend to stay away from these price gougers."

The stations that do that aren't gougers. Gas stations after expenses only make about 3-6 cents a gallon profit on gas especially the mom & pop stations. The credit card companies charge these places about a 2 - 3% transaction fee for credit card purchases. So with gas being $3.60/gal they are being charged 7 - 11 cents a gallon by the credit card companies. So if they except credit cards and keep the price the same they are losing money on those sales unless they are charging that much more for their gas. A big chain out fit can absorb those charges but a small mom & pop place can't. So if those stations give a cash discount I don't blame them. Plus I'll bet the stations that have the prices the same have those charges figured into their price and are making extra profit on the people that pay cash.

No difference between cash and CC.
Price is exactly $1.24.9 at every station in the city.
This is what is known as "free enterprise" today but more like collusion.
$4.72 US$ per US gallon.
$5.67 CDN$ per CDN gallon.
Any comments?
