I have seen your previous posts and I thought you most likely work in the petroleum industry. I am sorry this thread offends you, it was never meant to. You may right about most folks not understanding satire. But in my original post or any comments I have not targeted the people who work in the so called "trenches" in the oil industry. I think most who post here and other threads on this website do so to vent their frustrations in being completely powerless to do anything about gas prices. And you are right most folks don't have a clue as to how gas prices are set. In some cases it is most certainly greed, but that is the cost of living in a free market society. Sometimes people get screwed on prices of gas, groceries, anything we use.

"It is meant to be satirical, I really hope it comes across. It is not meant as a hatred of any one group. Everyone has to make a living. I spent 30+ years as a truck driver and numerous people made fun of my profession and that's okay. I laughed all the way to the bank and retired very comfortably when I was 55 years old. This thread is meant purely for fun, that's all."Satire has it's limits. This thread has lasted over three years. Many of the posters here continue to echo GasMiser718. They think it is all about greed when in fact they have absolutely no knowledge of how the market works and what truly drives costs. I have been called names and accused of lying, because I work in the industry and have tried numerous times to explain things. This thread is anything but funny, and the average poster doesn't even know what satire is. This is the place people come to spew their frustrations. Listening to a bunch of people say the same ridiculous things for three years is in no way "fun".

I find this particular thread hilariously hypocritical and amazing in it's longievity and attribute it to an almost unhealthy level hatred that a hand full of people have for another handful of people (if you consider a corporation a handfull of people).

I also find it funny that there exsists no recipricol thread that talks about prices going down. I was thinking about that as I pumped gas into mt truck this morning for $2.399 a gallon.

Jet fuel prices down but will not affect holiday airfares, especially since in most cases they already have your money.

By far most of the population has this "what am I going to do about it?" attitude. The only way pricing changes is if WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

The zeroth reason for gas prices to rise:

Price went up, you bought anyway. So why shouldn't the prices go up?

Now there is concern that oil prices falling may cause instability of world economies. I must admit I am happy oil is falling even though we just had a gasoline increase of 26 cents a gallon. So none of it makes any sense anymore and I don't think anyone knows the answer.
