I have to admit I let my TPMS tell me I'm low on air.

I usually check the tire pressure before a long trip.

Not often enough as I should I'm sure, but I would think at least once a month and when the average daily temperature changes from "summer " to "winter" range temperatures. On top of these, you should double check them prior to an extended trip and throughout said trip. Also one should monitor the tread depth of the tires to monitor tire wear which can affect how your car handles. Stick a penny into the tread so that the top of Lincoln's head is upside down and if you can see the top of his head. then it's time to replace that tire. This could vary per tire type/manufacturer, but it's a good place to start! If still unsure, take your car to your tire dealer to have them check the tire. Bottom line is, safety first and the life you save could be you. your family and other drivers on the road with you!

rarely with nitrogen filled tires, more often when filled with air. Nitrogen is the way to go, very stable. I have snow tires that haven't lost any pressure in over 2 years.

The TPMS standard is the tire is 30% underinflated before the warning is sounded. Too low! Of course, that's to reduce the number of false alarms.

I don't ever check my tire pressure as the garage does it every time I bring the car in. Plus my car gives me a signal is something is weong with the tires.

Once in a while but going to try to get in the habit to check it every 2 or 3 weeks.
