There a number of credit cards which pay 3% to 5% on fuel purchases. Recently bought diesel at a Murphy in Benton AR (home of Walmart) which (deceptively) was advertising the discounted Walmart card price. Was pleased to find the pump keyed to the discounted price using my Visa which isn't a Walmart cart but also pays a 5% rebate for pay-at-pump use.

We bought a $100 gift card this morning and I intend on refilling it as needed. That $2-$3 that I'll save each fill up is much better in my pocket. It's not like I won't be able to use any left-over amount on the card after the trip. Go to the Murphy website for details and participating locations/states.

I have to go in the store and buy a Walmart gift card to get this discount. My largest vehicles has a 28 gallon tank so saving three cents per gallon results in 84¢ in savings.
