A few stations around our town offer 5¢ , 6¢ , or 7¢ per gallon of gas. However, they are not even the cheapest gas stations in town no matter what the grade of gas happens to be. ( Of course some clubs or credit cards will offer you an additional percentage or discount and maybe that is the way to go. ) After checking around for price advantage, I've ended up charging my gas purchases to a credit card.

So, do you end up buying gas at the CASH discount, if offered (and if it ends up cheaper than a credit card) Or Do you just pay for your gasoline purchase with your credit card ?

CASH or CREDIT .... how do you pay for your gasoline purchase ?

Then.....if you pay in CASH ... how many pennies ¢¢¢ discount per gallon do you get offered.

Debit. I have a thing about credit cards offered by the oil company, those and rewards. We all pay dearly for those rewards by keeping the price high, it's always the higher priced stations that offer rewards, so if you purchase gas there, the price doesn't go down at other stations. Have never received a discount for cash.

I pay with a cash back credit card. My Costco American Express gives me 3% year round and my Discover card gives me 5% but only for one quarter of the year.

Most gas stations around me that charge different prices for cash vs credit charge about $0.10 extra for credit card customers. So most of the time my credit card cash back works out to a better deal than paying cash.
