Eliminate the gas tax and NO mileage tax.
I'd like a tire tax. Paid in full with the purchase of all new tires and cars.
This would evenly affect all vehicles, gasoline powered, natural gas powered, electric powered, etc.

STREETIRSX writes: Hell no... so punish us that buy fuel efficient cars.. aint that what the damn government asking _____ No one promised you low gas taxes if you bought a fuel-efficient ride. You get your payback by using less gas. While the current system does give you a break on taxes because taxation is based on fuel consumption, that's only because the current system is not efficient enough to tax you properly. If you want good roads, and good roads are critical to good gas mileage, you have to pay for them. I also doubt that under a tax per mile system, your tax burden would be that much greater. Of course, that's just speculation because a concrete proposal has not yet been made anywhere.
