I was looking for something on the Sacramento Bee's site, and, at the bottom of the home page, I saw a very GasBuddy-ish thing called GasGlance, which turns out to be a GBO toolbar.

The interesting thing was the target URL for the link: Jhtml? (Oh, crap, Javascript in HTML, another technology I know nothing about.) The partner parameter is not too mysterious; it probably says "Sacramento Bee" in hexidecimal Sandskrit. The pkw is the link text you clicked, which I think is a Google ad thing. The gclid stands for Google Click ID, so obviously this is a way for the NSA to track us. (What, you didn't know Google is an NSA front? Just try searching for "how to make a O'bomb-a" and see what happens.)

The most frightening thing was what you get if you click the More Info link at the bottom of the GasGlance page; a list of things you have to do to change your mind about it. Maybe you should read that first before installing.

Has anyone installed it? What's it like and do you find it useful?

Oh, and I checked What's New just to see if... Ah, no....
