Like many people I use a credit card to purchase gas. It's quick, easy, and I get reward points. Gas buddy is of limited to me because when I go to a gas station with a low price listed, it often is "cash only" "cash or (this company's credit card) price". By using my visa or mastercard I pay a much higher price per gallon.
This defeats the purpose of checking prices at gas buddy.
A 'flag' of some kind, say a color code, or * or something, that indicates the price is cash or company credit card only would be very helpful to people like me, and make gas buddy much more relevant.

A cash only station IS a station that takes only cash for payment.

BTW - I think '"cash only" prices' is a misnomer. It's more frequently referred to here as "dual-pricing".

"Cash-only" makes me think of a station that only accepts cash, and doesn't take credit cards at all.

I never post for points. By the time I get to this topic, I'm maxed out on points.

Yup SM, but something fairly common sense and obvious, and a bit tangential to the issue being raised. Posted for points? ;-)

That said, the DURABLE FLAG is something they could do quickly and would by them time to work out the best solution for cash/credit issue that they keep promising but never deliver. I have been suggesting the DURABLE FLAG for a long time now and they now have a field in the MSL to tie the DURABLE flag to so that it isn't dependent on folks remembering to mark a flag (or enter a comment that isn't durable) since many folks posting from the CURB SIGN might not catch if it is a dual priced station.

Yes, I have been asking for a durable flag for a long time.

Scout, the OP is talking about stations where it is DIFFERENT.

As I have indicated before, dual price fields itself will not solve the problem, unless stations post both prices at the curb because most prices are posted from the curb.

And, the comments are rather worthless since they are not "durable" and most members don't bother to POST comments.

Around this neck of the woods, you can usually beat the cash price at a slightly higher mono priced stations with an average or better cash back card.

The MODS have indicated they are working on the cash/credit price issue, and have entered a check box on the MSL (though some feel the dual state is not sufficient). However, the final solution will likely not be coming soon and we will have to wait and see if they can come up with something workable.

That said, they have the first piece and adding a durable flag would be a good first step and probably still useful once they provide the dual fields.

Here in the state of Florida, the advent of cash and credit pricing is creeping back in with the mom and pop stations posting what avidone1 has noted with signage indicating:

Cash Only or Cash and Exxon Credit Card only (or whatever gas card).

Most put on anywhere from 5 to 9 cents on top for credit. I usually post the cash price and occasionally note the credit price in the comments as "add 5ยข for credit card". I hardly ever post if it's all cards or just everything but the stations branded card to see the price increase.

bytebug is correct but if there is no difference in pricing, the price posted will also be the credit price.

The prices posted SHOULD be the cash price, and any differences in price for credit surcharge or car wash discount should be noted in the comments.
