Hello!! This is my very first post! Would like to know how to go about listing any stations that are in my area that are currently NOT listed. Will be happy to post their current price as well.
Thank you.

I don't know about the iPhone. Does it have a preferences page?

So invisible CLOSED stations is an iPhone thing only?

About the map: yes, of course. I must have mapzheimer's.

This is untrue when it comes to the Android version. Most of the above applies if you have Show All Stations checked on the preferences page. If it is unchecked, you will only see stations reported in the last 48 hours.

On the website, all stations will appear on the map if you select Show All Stations in the lower right corner of the map.

If the mobile app is the subject here, then a station will still appear if the last price has aged out—the price being replaced by dashes if it exceeds the number of hours of a price's "life," which varies by site and time of week. However, if a station's status has been changed to CLOSED (of any flavor) in the MSL, then the station will no longer appear in the app until the status has been returned to OPEN. On the full site, stations remain visible on FSLs regardless of status. Ditto on price lists. (I haven't checked maps yet, because I'm on an iPhone and you can't scroll the map, only the whole map page.)

I hate it when noons posts prices! Never gets them correct!

I think a station becomes unlisted because noons has reported price recently.

Yes, one should avoid using a smartphone while at the controls of a moving vehicle. but I think "stop" in this context meant "stop trying to enter the data".

jimm8080" "and you may want to stop until you are more familiar with GasBuddy."
You should NEVER post prices UNLESS stopped regardless of how long you have used GasBuddy.

There is no time limit. The only limit is you can back-time price 12 hours.

Jim8080, I'm not aware of any four-hour limit. But if someone else has posted a price that's more recent than the one you're back-dating, then their entry will stand, and yours won't be posted. Perhaps that's what you've observed?

(You do still get the points.)

Here is my approach – similar to the others:
Check time:
Note the time you checked the gas price for the station in question. If more than 4 hours will elapse before you enter the data in GasBuddy, the data won’t be posted. You might get points (I don’t recall), but the posting will not appear. If you don’t have a good memory, jot this time down.

Get the Name and address of the station, or at least the cross street.
The most accurate approach is to buy some fuel and get a receipt. Most receipts have the address. If not, ask the attendant. Most attendants are low paid, part time employees, and may not know the exact address. An alternate approach is to use your GPS, but the address on your GPS may not agree with the GasBuddy database.. While there, get prices for all grades. Notice if there are different cash and credit card prices. You need the cash price, and I also note the card price, if different. If the station is an independent, the name may vary a little from GasBuddy data. That’s ok.

Alternately, start GasBuddy, and check for gas prices in stations in the same general area. Select a nearby station and click on the Map button. Use the mouse to move around the map and the thumbwheel to change magnification, select a location and price that seems reasonable, Click on the price, and get name and address of the station.. This data is accurate.

Enter Data
Return to GasBuddy, and go to the Report Gas Prices and complete the station and area fields, selecting from the existing pull-down menus. If the data doesn’t appear, you are entering a can of worms, and you may want to stop until you are more familiar with GasBuddy.

A list of stations addresses will appear; select the appropriate address. Before “submitting prices”, decide if you may enter prices for this station in the future. If so, click "Add to My Favorite stations". It is much easier to use your favorite stations lists.

Enter cash prices. I usually add remarks indicating it is a cash price, and card prices info, like cash and credit card, same price, 10 cents more, etc.

Welcome aboard, prairiemoonmesa. The FAQ list has some information related to your question; have you checked that yet?

Gas_Buddy has suggested checking the MSL, but failed to mention that this is one of a handful of features that is available only to senior members, due to vandalism issues. As CampKohler mentions, seniority is defined by 10000 points; this can be achieved in a bit over a week if you max out your points each day, or in a month at a more leisurely rate.

If a station is known to GasBuddy (i.e., "it's in the MSL"), then one way to check for its existence is to use the "Map Gas Prices" link (which, strangely, seems to be in the bottom-of-page link farm but not in the menu bar at top of page; I hadn't noticed that anomaly before). Navigate the map to zoom in on the station's location, and select "All stations" from the time menu in case it doesn't have a recent price. If the station is known, then a pin should be displayed at its location.

If it is a station that is obviously old, then it is very likely already in the system (see GB's post). However, by luck, should you happen upon a newly-constructed station, you can post a new topic in your local discussion category and ask that a senior member enter it for you (until you reach 10K points, at which time you can do it yourself). You may find this form useful for gathering the necessary data.

First, welcome.

As for stations not being listed, assuming you're looking on the home page and don't see a station you're familiar with or for which you want to post gas prices, it's possible that the station has been listed before but, because prices are automatically removed after a set amount of time (the time varies by Gas Buddy site location and can range from about 12 or 24 to 48 hours or longer), and the station (and price) is therefore no longer shown.

You may find the station by accessing and searching the Master Station List; a link to the Master Station List can be found at the bottom of the screen page. If you need assistance with how to use the Master Station List, feel free to repost in this thread. The "regulars" to the "Talk back to us!" category are more than helpful.

Alternatively, you can click on the "Maps" link at the top of the page and then click on the "Map Gas Prices" link to see the stations in your area (and by clicking on the station, can "open" the station to update the prices).

If the station is not listed, you can simply enter prices for a non-listed station by posting the information in the "Report Gas Prices" section of the home page.

Note that because prices are removed at regular intervals, it's possible that a station's prices will not be seen. Because of that, feel free to post prices for stations currently listed as the new post will extend the duration of the viewing.

Hope that helps.
