If someone asks me a question in my White Board is there a way to answer it directly to the one who asked it other than for me to post the answer in my own White Board or the White Board of the person who asked the question.

If I am linked as a Buddy with a person can I correspond directly with that person?

If they're your buddy AND they posted a question on your w/b, you can copy the w/b post, paste it into a private message to your buddy, and respond there.

"...is there a way to answer it directly to the one who asked it other than for me to post the answer in my own White Board or the White Board of the person who asked the question."

No. If you receive a message via the whiteboard, it's the same as if you received a letter in the mail. You can click (link) to the other member, but your response will go directly and exclusively to the other member's whiteboard. The other member's message to you and your message to the other member are one-way traffic, not a consolidated thread.

"If I am linked as a Buddy with a person can I correspond directly with that person?"

Yes. Unlike the whiteboard, the "buddy system" keeps your correspondence in a single thread (unless you start a new thread) that can be seen by only you and the "buddy member". Whiteboard messages, on the other hand, can be seen by anyone who opens a member's profile page.
