Just wondering how that works. I am only "registered" for texasgasprices.com. But I travel interstate. I don't really want to set up a separate log in for every state, but can't report any of my prices.

This is completely off topic but I feel the last visited info should be in the members profile and look something like this

Date last price posted - 9/18/2013
Date of last forum posting - 9/15/2013

If you're using an app on a mobile device to update the price, the "Find Gas Near Me" will interrogate your GPS and display a list of stations sorted from the closest to the most distant. It works the same way no matter where you are at.

So far, I've updated stations in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas on the iPhone app (which runs fine on an iPad but not an iPod Touch: no GPS hardware in an iPod Touch).

Retied-Coastie:
Granted the member starting the original post hasn't returned to this thread he started (and has 0 consecutive days, for that matter), but how would a "last visited or last log in indicator" make a difference in this thread? Or, what would having a last visited or last log in indicator show that's relevant to this individual topic (that is, knowing when the member last visited Gas Buddy or logged in, forgetting that the member may be continually logged in)?

This an great example of the need for a last visited or last log in indicator, this member has not visited his own post in many days. Has not posted many prices either, sad to say.

"It is a minor annoyance that you have to log-in to each site on the website, but the login is the same across each site. Same ID and same password."

If you are using your smart phone, there is no need to log in once you have the app fired up.

You don't have to login to each site, if you use the Map and zoom/scroll to the relevant area.

puterbug,
Many are assuming you are using the APP. Having used Gasbuddy when traveling w/out a smart phone, using my PC when I arrived at wifi spots for lunch or evening, and your comment about not wanting to set-up a separate login, possibly you are talking about either the mobile site on a feature phone or on the full website?

Are you posting from price list, map or Favorite Station List (FSL)?

It is a minor annoyance that you have to log-in to each site on the website, but the login is the same across each site. Same ID and same password.

Please let us know if this and the information from kwzh, Gas_buddy, rumbleseat and scoutmaster resolves your problem on how to post prices for your fellow members, or if you have other questions on how to post prices. There are several ways you can post the prices from either the website or app. If you travel the interstate along the same routes, you can set up FSL.

See also FAQ #19. (It was written for the Web site, but I'm guessing all relevant bits are the same for the app, if that's what you're using.)

To amplify the below responses, once you're logged on to Gas Buddy, using your mobile app, you can simply post gas prices wherever you are, regardless of whether you're in your home area or not. Simply reload the "list" as necessary to view gas stations in your driving vicinity or "track yourself" on the "map" listing. It's irrelevant whether you're reporting prices while in Texas or while you're at your destination in (for example) Albuquerque or anywhere in-between. You'll receive points for your price posting (up to the daily maximum), as well as extend your consecutive days standing, and earn or continue your "icon stripes" for 90 or more days of consecutive posting.

No separate log-in is necessary to post "out of area" and it will be something that will be appreciated by your fellow travelers as it makes them more informed shoppers.

Your log-in works at all gasbuddy sites in Canada and the US.

You can report prices from anywhere, You don't need to be registered in more than one site.
