THE BP STATION AT BALD EAGLE & N.BARFIELD DR. ON MARCO ISLAND,FL
IS NOW A SHELL STATION.. YOUR STATION LIST SHOULD BE CHANGE TO REFLECT
THIS CHANGE.

IN ADDITION.. YOUR GAS BUDDY LIST SHOULD INCLUDE GAS PRICES AT MARINE DOCKS
IN THE MARCO ISLAND & NAPLES AREA AS WELL AS OTHER MARINE GAS LOCATIONS IN FLORIDA.
MARINE GAS IS USUALLY $1.00 TO $1.50 A GAL MORE THAN AUTO/CAR STATIONS..

The number of users who use and operate an on-road automobile outweighs the number of users who frequent marinas, we will removed marina listings to deter users from being led to a station where they have no access to fuel pumps.

We've received feedback in the past where families on vacation run out of fuel/almost run out of fuel because they took the time to go to a marina station only to find they had no access to the pumps.

For the time being, GasBuddy is intended for automobiles (general public) only.

The brand change has been made to the 861 Bald Eagle Dr & N Barfield Dr location.

"The marine fuel question has been raised in the past. I don't remember the official position on it but scoutmaster is opposed to it and will try to sell his opinion."

You try to sell your opinion as well, plastic. If you want a place for marine fuel prices, start a site of your won. This is a vehicle fuel site.

Thanks, GB. That does sound familiar.

There was recent discussion on the matter and I don't recall the moderator's response but it was probably still in line with that 2005 message.

Plastic:

As far back as 2005, the moderators wrote: "We do not like for members to post Marina prices on the site because it does alter the average calculations. This site was mainly built for car traffic not for boats. Perhaps in a future version release we will have a place for marina gas prices but please do not post them on the price boards now. I do not see a problem posting the prices in the local message forum though."

Marina fuel price posting

Personally, I think that the number of boat owners on Gas Buddy would be relatively small and most boat usage would be relatively local. It would seem to make sense to make use of the local discussion category to share marina fuel information (as well as information on other amenities, etc.) just as information on other "limited/alternative fuels" might be useful if posted in the local discussion categories). Simply make sure the topic name is clearly identifiable and relevant to what you want or want to know.

The marine fuel question has been raised in the past. I don't remember the official position on it but scoutmaster is opposed to it and will try to sell his opinion.

I like having marine prices because it helps me decide where to pull in to fuel my boat.
On the other hand, marine fuel prices are usually higher (as you mentioned) and can skew the Gasbuddy fuel price averages. Maybe that's not so important in places where boat traffic and use is high.

marcovette:

If you're saying that "marine gas locations" in Florida are selling fuel for automobiles, you can list the gas stations on the Master Station List and you can post the gas prices (i.e., list the station) via the "Post Gas Prices" box on the home page of the Gas Buddy website.

If anything, you'd be helping your fellow Gas Buddy members. That said, if the "gas stations" are only selling fuel for watercraft, that's outside the general purview of Gas Buddy.

As for "YOUR STATION LIST SHOULD BE CHANGE TO REFLECT...", either you can make the change in the Master Station List yourself (as suggested below) or, if you're not sure how to do that, simply ask and we'll explain how to update the Master Station List, or (again, as suggested below) start a thread in the Naples discussion category asking a fellow "senior member" (one who has 10,000 or more points and, thus, has the ability to access the Master Station List) to make the change (as a local member would be better able to confirm the change).

As for "OTHER MARINE GAS LOCATIONS IN FLORIDA...", again assuming you're saying that those stations are selling gas for automobiles (and not just for watercraft), you can start discussion topics in the Florida discussion category and/or other Florida discussion categories (Miami, Jacksonville, etc.) and request that other Florida Gas Buddy members add "marine gas locations that sell fuel for automobiles and light trucks)" to the Master Station List and/or to the "Report Gas Prices" section of the home page.

Someone needs a hug.

marcovette,

You have enough points to change a station name in the MSL. This is a vehicle fuel site, not a marine fuel site.

Wow - some anger management issues?

CAPS=SHOUTING!

As far as the station name, you have >10,000 points and therefore can edit the MSL (Master Station List). Otherwise, you can post in your local forum and have someone else update it for you.
