I've asked but never received a response from the powers that be (PTB) as to why the route numbers had to be removed from the address lines in the MSL. Does anyone know why?

We don't want the route numbers in the address field because we want that data segregated. It should be simplified so that when we pull the address field from the table in the database that is the information that we get. We don't want to get the address and then have to try and remove the route numbers or any other erroneous information that we are not asking for. So please just do as the instructions in the msl ask and put the exact address of the station in the address field.

plastic,

To put it accurately, routes in the address line was the preferred way of listing stations for many years. That has now changed. I am asking why the change.

And no, plastic, you haven't addressed much of anything.

Scout, I believe I already addressed that. But to put it in context, you have been doing it wrong since 2003. Didn't you get your wrist slapped for your MSL antics? I thought you got banned or locked out of the MSL for causing problems.

"You asked. I answered. That you don't believe me is no skin off my nose."

Considering we were setting the pins on each station that set the GPS coordinates, I think that was the "excuse" given.

From 2003 until this year, routes were in the address lines. You should really know what you are talking about before you spout off plastic.

The route numbers didn't mess up the GPS locators.

Extraneous information messes up GPS locators.

You don't put the route numbers in the address line. They are not a part of the address. Whoever this "we" were that was doing it (you and a few accommodating newbies?) were wrong and that is likely why it was changed.

I did answer your question. You never mentioned anything about having the alternate street names show up outside of the MSL. Maybe you should have asked that question from the beginning. There is no reason for the route numbers to be displayed. The addresses are likely only used for GPS directions and for correspondence. Neither of which would have the need for the route numbers.

The alternate line doesn't show up anywhere except the MSL. We had the route numbers in the address lines for a lot of years until recently.

So no this can't be locked. plastic's reply didn't answer the question.

Why would the route number be in the address line? The address should only have the address. You can put the route number in as an alternate street name. Your answer is right there in the MSL next to the address and alternate street name fields.
