So I'm enjoying the BlackBerry app, and combined with my son's learner's permit (lots of passenger time while he waits out 180 days) I'm entering many more prices than I did with web or mobile web. Since it's location-aware, it's easier to enter non-local stations, formerly I didn't usually bother.

But yesterday I couldn't connect to the station server. I could see my profile, and the BlackBerry Map was working, but when I searched for a station (either "Near Me" or by zip code) I got only the waiting circle, even when I was on WiFi. I got desperate not to lose my consecutive days, so I made sure to enter a price on the mobile web.

I never bothered going for consecutive-day speed stripes, because one day when all I did was log on and check prices, but not enter, and I had to start again, but I figured this was an award I could keep.

Now I look today, and I've still got my consecutive days, but I'm only 2% of the way to Iron Man Level 2. Bumming out here. :-(

>> it is a very viable phone for business.

Given the dependency of Blackberry staying in business for the phone to work, it is increasingly not a viable phone for business. That the iPhone or Windows or Android phones don't have that dependency is exactly the reason that those phones are more attractive to both consumers and businesses, and why in increasing numbers, businesses are moving away from Blackberry.

"You don't read the business section do you. You also are not familiar with the Business 101 ideology of the "Rule of Threes"."

I read it every day! While a Blackberry is not a great consumer phone, it is a very viable phone for business.

Today's Blackberrys don't even make the CNet list.

In case you don't understand that, it means "ouch". Investors go away.

As a sidebar it's nice to see iPhone 5 bringing Apple up into the top.

Blackberry has been on the verge of bankruptcy for the last year or so, and with their recent lackluster sales, could close the doors at any time.

Earlier this year I facilitated a company who made the transition from Blackberrys to iPhones, and it was exactly because of the uncertainty in Blackberry's future.

"Sure – businesses that are still living in the past and won't mind their communications to be interrupted when Blackberry finally shuts its doors."

That's not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

"Yeah, you might want to upgrade from the 90s and get rid of the Blackberry."

Blackberry's are still used in business. There is nothing 90's about today's Blackberry.

"But the irom man reset and said I was 0% to my next level, 5, it says I readced level 4 in april."

Dang! Another useless milestone that no one but you knows about will have to be achieved! Gen. Patton would not be happy having to gain the same ground again!

Consecutive days participating and iron man are entirely different entities. "Consecutive days" simply means doing any "points earning action" on Gas Buddy, regardless of the platform or device you're using (the full website on either a desktop/laptop computer, tablet, and/or phone, etc.). App awards that require a daily action must be done using the app as your means of doing the "points earning action".

I didn't post prices on my android last sunday, but posted them on my computer. My consecutive days are fine. But the irom man reset and said I was 0% to my next level, 5, it says I readced level 4 in april.
I gave up on the routine of posting AM and PM, because eventually you may miss, and it sets you back to the last level.
But what I wasn;t aware of was that if I don't post from my mobile it messes with the iron man also.
The answer, 'get an iphone' is bogus. There are a lot more android phones out there than iphones.

Other than "Gasbuddy" no one else knows what award levels a member has attained. So as best as I can tell, the awards were created as a way to get "app" users a reason to visit the web site on occasion and participate in the discussion forums.

David, IMHO, the awards should not drive your decision on a phone or your posting of prices.

And, it seems that often the iPhone folks complain about something on the APP and the Android, say they have that feature or don't have that problem.

So, maybe you can tell us why you feel it is better to get an iPhone and how it relates to the topic at hand.

Or, are you just grabbing your post points here?

Iron man and Consecutive days are two different things.
Life is too short to worry about either. (my opinion).
