Since I don't have a Facebook account, can you stop asking me if I want to like or share the app.

Please make a setting where this annoying popup can be turned off.

You don't have to like or share an app via Facebook. I like GasBuddy and I share it with my friends. It doesn't have to be on Facebook.

Great post Gas_Buddy. The complainers want stuff fixed but do want to be part of helping to get stuff fixed.

"The other pop up messages that d_clark is referring to are the Smart Prompt messages that are designed to intake station information and sort-of self regulate the MSL with the help of mobile app users.

Android has the option to turn these off in the app settings, turning off Smart Prompts in the iOS app is currently on the "to-do" list."

A problem with turning off the Smart Prompt messages is, after all the complaining about the accuracy of prices and the posting of prices for fuels not sold by a stations, complaints that accuracy is needed, by turning off the (to me) infrequent prompt messages we are denying our assistance in helping self regulate the Master Station List. Better, to me, to have a very slight inconvenience (Smart Prompt messages) if it will help the overall accuracy of the Master Station List and viewing of accurate prices.

The Facebook pop message d_clark is referring to is set to show 7 days after an updated version of the app is installed. The app doesn't know if you're a Facebook user or not, so both FB and non-FB users will get the same prompt.

If I remember correctly there have been 3 or 4 updates in the past couple of months so anyone with the iOS app could potentially have seen this a few times.

The other pop up messages that d_clark is referring to are the Smart Prompt messages that are designed to intake station information and sort-of self regulate the MSL with the help of mobile app users.

Android has the option to turn these off in the app settings, turning off Smart Prompts in the iOS app is currently on the "to-do" list.

I've requested a server side change for d_clark to no longer receive the Smart Prompt messages. Hopefully this alleviates the problem.

Thanks for your patience.

gm78's post doesn't indicate his displeasure with anything, CampKohler.

If gm78 is expressing his displeasure from said popup, this is EXACTLY the right topic.

The issue is about the pop-up that d_clark thinks is annoying and thinks is about liking or sharing the app, and would like turned off.

Forgetting that most/many people apparently haven't seen the pop-up, what does "Don't like to use Facebook", "don't like fb", and "I've never been on facebook OR twitter" have to do with responding to d_clark's questions/original post?

I use the app almost exclusively for price posts. I have yet to see a question about Facebook.

This thread points out just why I never have used the app. My iPhone and most other smart phones has more than an adequate web browser with which to access the main website.

I get a popup several times a week, Some are does this station sell Diesel, one might be do you have to be a member to buy gas etc. Then the do you want to share this app, and do you like this app come up another several times a week.

Funny part is, the do you have to be a member to buy gas, always pops up for the same Shell station.

I've seen the "share this app" question a couple of times but it seems like only happens soon after loading an update to the app. In any case, it hasn't happened often enough to be particularly annoying.

d_clark,

Is the pop-up asking you to share the GB app? I've never seen this.

I think the referral is not for Facebook but to refer new members (i.e., the 1,200 points option for identifying potential members). I believe I've seen the pop-up, along with "Does this station have..." and "Do you need to be a member to get this price..." pop-ups several times, but not to the point that it's been annoying.

That's odd. I've never seen that popup. My GB account is in no way linked to my FB account and I have never liked or shared the app.
