Author Topic: ATTN: iOS/iPHONE APP USERS - RECENT UPDATE Back to Topics
Message Posted: Jul 12, 2013 1:13:11 PM

It looks like our iOS team submitted a new app version today, unfortunately they submitted the DEBUG version of the iOS app which means there are going to be some features that don't work, or additional features you've never seen before that you may not understand why they're included, etc.

This version was requested to be pulled from the App Store almost immediately afterward, but it could take up to 24 hours for Apple to complete that change.

The intended version of the app has been submitted and it is pending an expedited review for download availability in the App Store.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

This issue has reportedly been fixed.

If you didn't encounter the debug version, Gas_Buddy, then that's what we were hoping for!

byte bug:
Some of us "real" Gas Buddies access the website via our mobile device's browser as well as using the appto update prices while commuting or traveling in a timely manner. Even some of us Luddites have accepted that we can't use fountain pens and bottle ink or WordStar on our Osborne computers even if we want to

Seriously, it would make sense for the moderators to "push" this message so it appears on all app screens one time as many app users don't access the discussion threads and may have downloaded the app not realizing there's a moderator post (here) providing guidance.

>> I don't use the app, myself

That's because real GasBuddies only ever post via the website.

In view of Gas_Buddy's observation, I suppose it's appropriate to ask, how can we tell whether we have the debug version or the correct version? (That's a generic We; I don't use the app, myself.)

If it makes any difference, I downloaded the app from the Apple Store a few minutes before writing this post (not having seen this post) and noticed no apparent change from the previous version other than there were fewer gas prices, i.e., fewer stations, listed than before. That is, I noticed no features not working, no additional features (I haven't seen before, let alone not understand why they were included).
