I'm not sure why you locked the original topic. Just because there is a work-around that works on one browser doesn't mean the issue is solved. Some people might interpret locking the topic as meaning you just don't care?

I also get the same malformed digits when viewing the site on my iPad. On it, I don't have the option of zooming, and the digits appear with little tails all the time.

Please fix this! (I don't recall this being an issue before the major site redesign from a few weeks ago.)

Can you read and understand the price? If so, nothing to see here. Move along

>> The question is whether the graphics glitch is a server-side bug or a client-side bug

The prices are formed by separate images for each digit and the decimal point. The images used before the site redesign had no zoom issues, while the new images are affected by zoom. If you note other images on the site have no visible tails and are not affected by zoom.

As well, the issue affects at least two separate browsers – Safari as implemented on the iPad, and Internet Explorer – each of which have completely different HTML rendering engines.

That the issue didn't exist previously, is not an issue with other images, and is able to be reproduced on different HTML renderers points to a design problem or server-side bug.

Right, there's no question that the images are readable. The question is whether the graphics glitch is a server-side bug or a client-side bug, or perhaps an unavoidable property of zooming that's not actually considered a bug.

I looked at the images and they seem readable to me. Perfect works of art? Maybe not, but they look clearly readable to me. Am I missing something?

Yes, it may be a software anomaly, but not a critical defect or something that is so problematic that it should be raised as an urgent fix above many enhancements that we have been waiting for a long time.

I am sure they will address it when they get a chance.

Once they have enough information to identify the problem, the thread will often be locked so it doesn't continue to garner me too or other unneeded discussion such as this second thread. This seems to be normal mode of operation on this site for a long time.

This sounds more like a user issue than a GB issue. If it was a GB issue, it would be more widespread.

I thought the malformed digits were known to be an issue with the browser cache, and the fix was to do a hard refresh of the page or clear the cache, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

bytebug, I assume that when we have two stations with identical prices, they each provide the same image object to the browser's rendering engine. What can be done server-side to fix this?

I first reported badly formed digits in this thread that was deleted. It is yet another example of an issue that would be easily fixed if they chose to, and indicates inadequate testing of the changes that were made and likely results from those changes being made by non-professional developers.

I don't see it as an issue at all.
