I just started using the fuel log book for my new car. I don't understand why you have to have 2 fill ups in a row for it to calculate mpg. I can see where you would have to have at least 2 fill ups on record, with no missed tanks in between for it to calculate, but why do they have to be in a row? I could fill up, then have 2 or 3 purchases where I did not fill, and then fill up again, and it should be able to calculate mpg using the total miles since my last fill, and the total gallons since my last fill. mpg = miles / gallons, no?
