Why is it that some member can get 31000 plus point in the 30 day cycle not being a new member and others can just get maybe 29650. Is there anyways to make it more fair for all of us? This has been a topic that has been brought up many times.

BigHorne1, the short answer is that by timing your posts at the end of a day at the start of a 30 day period and the beginning of the day at the end of the 30 day period, you can effectively compress an extra day's worth of points into that 30 day period. At the link in Scrapheap's post, it explains that the 30 days are computed down to the exact second.

What the link doesn't explain is that points are earned during the 24 hour day in the time zone you post from. If you have everything set up, possibly on 2 computers, it's possible to get all of your points in the last two minutes of one day (one minute is probably doable, but it would be cutting it really close) and again in the first two minutes of the next. In 4 minutes time, you've scored 2 days worth of points. If that happened on a Saturday/Sunday, you could generate 1,075 points twice in that 4 minute period. If for the next 29 days you post right after midnight, you would have 31 days worth of points in your "30 day" total until 11:58 p.m. when your 30 days expired and that first 1075 dropped out. The second 1075 would drop out within the next 4 minutes, but it would be replaced when you post your points for that day.

Once someone has 31 straight days of points, they can start and stop 30 day periods more or less on a daily basis. And you can check your points earning history via your profile page to see when you earned points on any given day during that period. Every once in a while I find myself still awake enough to get all my posts in for a day just after midnight, and without doing anything else, that impacts my 30 day position somewhat.

If you post at the same time every day and never vary the days you vote in the poll, you'll never get near the top of the 30 day list. And a well-coached "newbie" can always earn an extra 100 during their first 30 day period.

As others have explained below somewhat intemperately at times, nobody can get more than 975 points in any day, except the 100 one time award for poll voting we can all claim anytime each week beginning at 12:00:01 a.m. Sundays, and except for the dozen "invite a friend" awards available during the term of a membership.

I'd like to see anyone who whines about points have all their points taken from them.

Yawn -- such a little insignificant thing in life -- getting less than the maximum point one day --- points that have very little value other than ego unless you are very, very lucky at lottos. Don't fret the little stuff and get out and enjoy life.

Also, in your own words, this has been brought up many times before. If it has, AND it has, why are you asking again?

And your (same) question was answered in the other thread.

It's all fair, no one gets, or can get any more points than the next guy.
