I agree that additional site access through mobile apps might be nice, if possible, but there's no reason that a person using a 10 inch tablet couldn't access the full site. The only problem is that the main site tries to send all mobile users to a mobile site, but clicking on the "full site" link will keep tablet users on the main site. I have posted messages and used almost all site features from my 7" android tablet. I agree that sometimes I have wished I had more site access from my phone, but mobile site access has improved so much in the past few years that I have nothing but compliments for the progress made so far.

Based on pghbill's point total, he doesn't visit this site often in any way. If he just maxed out post prices daily he would have around 2,000,000 points. So I don't think it makes any difference how he accesses this site.

"I rarely come to this site this way" means how? I use the app and use the web site. I access the web site via my phone more than a pc using the smartphone's browser. I use a tablet as often as the phone. If you opened the app (as a new user) I bet a link to the web site that opened the full site instead of the mobile one would be most beneficial to newbies.

Getting back to the gist of the original post, this is a very good suggestion that might actually be implemented since it can be accomplished by the app programmer. It certainly would not involve a development team having to update scores of servers, etc. and it could be distributed with the next version of the app.
Creating a link from the app to the web site may result in more folks understanding GB protocol, and help them find the FAQ resulting in a better understanding of how things work here in GB land.
So too, they may enter the fourm, get involved in discussions and contribute their ideas; that is unless they're run off for overstepping perceived opinion boundaries before accumulating enough points.

Why is this a problem? Many members have no interest in taking part in the various "discussions", indicating a color, or brand of tire, or counting, or posting widgets, etc., nor do they find interest in the various topics in the more substantive discussion categories (topics such as "A retired Coca-Cola executive mailed me this suggestion that if..." or "If we don't buy gas on this specific date, the gas companies will have so much fuel on hand they'll have to drop prices a half a buck a gallon like they did...the last time we did suggested this." They simply don't feel it's worth their time to take part in the "discussions" nor are they interested in the points; they're interested, apparently, as you're saying they have a "good amount of points', in posting gas prices. And, after all, isn't that what we all really joined the website for? For information about gas prices, and to help others be knowledgeable about gas prices?
I have no problem whatsoever with members with a "good amount of points" not wasting time or taking part in the "discussions" if they don't want to.
However, if you find not taking part in the discussions a "problem", do you have a problem with members that have a "good amount of points" that never take part in the weekly prize drawing? After all, there are many members that have no interest in that, either.

I was just looking through the members profiles. I see people with a good amount of points.. been here for years, but have 0 forum post. I SEEN A LOT that fit this profile.. so there is a problem somewhere.

I can never figure out which of the two forums is more applicable. That one seems to get more petty whining and this one seems to get more serious topics... I am prob wrong no matter which I choose, lol... I am humbled and honoured by your approval Scout!

This is a pretty good suggestion and probably should have been made in the "Suggest an Improvement" topic. The Help file on the app is not current and really wanting of useful info. A link back to the web site would very probably result in more traffic here, and perhaps more importantly, better informed app users.
