Supposedly points updates are done immediately, unlike overall rank, which is done once a day. But I am noticing that there is frequently a delay of 20-30 minutes for the site to register new points and change the 30 day ranking. Is this a new issue, or is immediate not quite so immediate?

Points are scored immediately. The 30 day rank is updated hourly.

The scoreboard has long had a delay of some sort, but I believe points are scored immediately, in the sense that you can see your current total at the top of any GasBuddy page. Of course, if you have a page that was already open, and then you earn points in a different tab or window, then the original page will still show the old total, until you reload the page or open a new page to replace it.

I believe they recalculate once an hour to reduce the load on the servers.

Perhaps not a bug but a feature. Probably has to do with the cache values set high enough to not hit the database so much.
