I just noticed that the gasbuddy app map shows branded logo icons for BP, shell, Kroger, etc., but the website doesn't. In fact the only logo icons on the web site I've noticed are "DS" (Duchess Shoppe) but they are BP stations and show BP on the app.

Anyway, I don't know how connected the android app is to the website but I find that a bit odd. Perhaps its a copyright issue?

Duchess Shoppe (BP) is tied in partnership with a GB sister company called "OpenStore", essentially a new media solution for gas stations and convenience store brands. For more info feel free to see OpenStore.

GasBuddy is a free service, and the majority of revenue is generated through advertising.

One of the perks of being an OpenStore client is that their prices will remain at the top of the price lists, with promotional offers and logos displayed. There are also accentuated map pin marker on the site and apps.

This is entirely normal for stations that participate in OpenStore services.

Stations that have logos on the maps on the website are part of GasBuddy Direct and, I believe, pay to have that privilege. The logos on the app are independent are based on branding.
