Can we have something else? I've already memorized them and I'm not getting one as you can get a better deal from American Express.

At least the ads are not some of the cheesier ones seen on other sites.

After all this time online at most sites, I just don't notice ads anymore. I couldn't tell you most days what they were after I leave a site.

We're getting ads now from the makers of Tylenol. Accidental overdose of the active ingredient in Tylenol is one of the major reasons for liver transplant. So, they want you to "get relief responsibly."

They're preaching to the choir for me (I know all about not taking acetaminophen to overdose) but it's least at not the Bank of America ads!

Sorry for any confusion. Since we use third-party advertisers, we have no way of knowing which ads will be displayed to you. We have control over what types of ads are shown, but not over which specific ads are shown.

All ads on the website should run on a rotation, but the length of the rotation is entirely decided between the advertisers themselves and the agencies representing them.

Sneakers55, I believe that the ads are supposed to cycle, so that you don't keep getting the same one. The usual mechanism for doing this is a browser cookie. Do you perhaps have cookies disabled? If so, you might find that you get a better experience by enabling them.

Because the ads pay for the operation of the site, it's extremely unlikely that GB will do away with them, and they probably don't have a long list of advertisers to pick from.

Instead of whining about the ads, just download and install one of the many, good, and free ad blockers onto your web browser and be done with it.

Sneakers55:

If the "BankAmericard Cash Rewards" credit cards ads "pay the rent", then the ads should be kept.

Unless, and I'm not being cynical, you have advertisers lined up to replace the income from the current BankAmericard Cash Rewards advertising, or you're willing to financially sponsor the website.

Like the ad or not, you have to presume that the ad is being displayed because it's being effectively received by website viewers. If the advertisers didn't feel they were getting a return for their advertising money, they wouldn't advertise, or if they didn't feel that that specific ad wasn't effective, they'd switch ads.

As for ad blockers, I don't disagree that that's not an option for you (or others), but as long as advertising is necessary for this website to operate (after all, there are operating expenses whether we see them or not), and the membership is unwilling to pay a membership fee to use the website, I'm not going to suggest to anyone that they block the ads. If anything, and I'm not naive enough to think that anyone will do it, I'll tell people to keep opening the advertisements as long as it helps keep the website free from membership fees.

Agree that the American Express card is a better deal but if you don't like an ad, simply ignore it.
