I always ask the attendant inside to turn on the pump. No issues.

The only problem is not all pumps will go to 80psi which is what I need and ends up deflating my tires.

Couldn't believe that such a website could still exist..so checked it out. For my burb of Toronto - Scarborough, Ont - there is just one location (for about 1 mill. people - Tor is about 4 Mill) & it appears to be an Asian family support services location. Do they really offer auto. services of any kind??

This is an "Oldie"; Back in the "50's" I remember an inflation tool that could be connected to one of a vehicles engines spark-plug hole by taking out a spark-plug then attaching the tool to the hole opening.

The pump device I believe had a double piston, one which pumped fresh air to inflate a tire. The power came from starting that engine and then using one cylinder's compression source to reciprocate action in the tool's 1st. piston/plunger then drive power incorporated a second piston/spring/check valve mechanism to pump the inflation air pressure to a long hose for airing the tire.

Cool tool of the 40-50's era I guess! I saw it then hooked up right in my own yard/driveway, watched it work, didn't know the guy using it and never seen one(tool)since. I was near 10 years old at the demonstration time, I remember the car was only hitting on 5 of the 6 cylinders while the tool was in use at idle with the spark wire was firing the dangling plug in the open, Snap Snap Snap! X hundreds Story ends.....

we use to make them out of old air condition units (the one that are on PU's) we would have a 20 gal tank under neath the fender well in the backand a regulator on it. they always were handy when in the middle of nowhere.

I received a portable air pressure tank as a gift several years ago, I later adapted a 12-15 DC. volt small portable air tire compressor to it with extra length cord.

The small compressor will pump that tank to the limit of the safety pop off valve 150# or less, depends on setting. Enough volume to air most flats from scratch, if compressor is plugged in and running also.... WFMe!

Take it about anywhere, in car, truck, ATV. battery source or not, handy!

Most of the station now charge in our area. Since they nickel and dime you for everything I have no compunction to spend money at any but the lowest priced places.

I have a compressor at home, so I haven't looked for any air pumps at gas stations in awhile. Looking at the website Camry05 posted, it seems there are very few free pumps in my area.
