it was below 45f this morning, and all 4 tires were 5 pounds less...that could be about 5% to 10% less fuel efficiency.

Here is My actual story, rather first experience with the newer TPS indicator system.
Our newest vehicle came with a TPS system. The model We looked at was on the showroom floor when our interest developed to buy a new car. That one got sold quickly, and the one exactly identical was driven to our local dealer from another location(city) 120 miles away.

After putting an additional 200 miles on our new vehicle, about two weeks of use then 2011, the TPS light came on, and I didn't know at that time what it was, until reading the manual, or fiddling with the sound system, clock, and fine tuning the sound/selecting favorite radio stations.

The tire check with a good dial pressure gauge showed the right rear tire was down to 26#, while the rest were at close to 30# on that cool morning after noticing the dash light indicator.

I simply aired those 4 tires up to 36 lbs. on a 68* F morning, and never since has that TPS came back on. That was in the Spring of 2011 and We had Our first oil change @ 7,000 miles this last Fall, and still at present no tire checks with dial gauge, no TPS lit, but I'm very interested in what the present all four tire pressures will be, once checked, any day now.

I glanced at the tires yesterday all looked fine, and noticed they are Dunlop tires, noticed for the first time what brand. Still learning, added a bit of washer fluid, checked fluid levels, after the rain lets up the vehicle needs washed, with some tree debris blown away from crevice areas hear/there. We have many large trees and blooms at home.

I soon will not only rely on Our TPS system for correct awareness of correct fuel saving correct tire pressures, by waiting for the tire monitor light which is a minimum pressure alert, more costly and somewhat lazy way to maintain My tires. Maybe the higher end more expensive vehicles have a much finer designed TPS System, for a more trustworthy fuel savings type, I don't know..... Done with story.... Tea time(more)...

They are all good to go. The daily weather temps have been climbing so our tires tend to gain a bit on average a few lbs. staying stable for economy rolling motion.

without sounding ignorant.. my mechanic told me not to worry if the pressure was low in the mornings because it was cold and they should be lower then ????? Was he just blowing me off, rather than take the time and put the air in the tires for me?

Don't have too because the 2014 Grand Cherokee has an awesome TMS, and my 2010 Nissan Frontier also has TMS that works.

I usually vacuum My vehicle floor mats/carpet/misc. on a regular basis, then check the tire pressure readings at the same time, vacuum at home, have gauge, pull down hose pressure available in garage area, vacuum has 20' hose/cord also. Just pick the warmer days available, satisfied!
