it was below 45f this morning, and all 4 tires were 5 pounds less...that could be about 5% to 10% less fuel efficiency.

They are all good to go. The daily weather temps have been climbing so our tires tend to gain a bit on average a few lbs. staying stable for economy rolling motion.

without sounding ignorant.. my mechanic told me not to worry if the pressure was low in the mornings because it was cold and they should be lower then ????? Was he just blowing me off, rather than take the time and put the air in the tires for me?

Don't have too because the 2014 Grand Cherokee has an awesome TMS, and my 2010 Nissan Frontier also has TMS that works.

I usually vacuum My vehicle floor mats/carpet/misc. on a regular basis, then check the tire pressure readings at the same time, vacuum at home, have gauge, pull down hose pressure available in garage area, vacuum has 20' hose/cord also. Just pick the warmer days available, satisfied!

Low tire pressure is common, wastes gas, & at its worse, can de-rim a tire. Decades ago, a British study indicated billions of gallons of fuel were wasted because millions of drivers, chronically had low pressure in tires. Go to freeairpump .com for air pumps with free usage.

Already taken care of on Our daily driver. The other vehicles may need a check, those not driven much while the sloppy winter mess abounds. The TPI are still off, and I still check anyway, in order to stay away from the minimum pressure alert for saving fuel.... Assuming We have the economy version TPI type.
