Do you cut corners to beat traffic or to avoid having to slow down as much when turning onto a street? Never noticed how prevalent it is till I owned my first motorcycle. Seems to be rarely enforced by police.

VERY VERY rarely. And I'm always trying to pay attention to the traffic on the street I'm turning onto.
We have an intersection nearby that has the stopping line several yards back from the light because any larger vehicle - like a semi or bus - are forced to cut into the middle turning lane and if there is cars waiting there, traffic comes to a dead stop as the idiots have to backup, inch over into the other lane or have their frontend taken off.

No, but I love the looks on the faces of people that attempt to cut as my truck is rolling up to the stop sign, though.

hoopitup2000, are you talking about cutting across a parking lot or gas station to avoid a light or intersection back-up?

In Massachusetts, there's no actual law prohibiting it. But I have stopped people doing it. Sometimes I wrote them tickets on [failure to stop (driveway)], "failure to signal," "failure to yield to pedestrians," or just stopped to slow them down. (And yes, maybe to get these pushy jerks pissed off!")

If you're talking about coming through in the travel lane, then cutting in to the turn lane, then that's a simple lane violation. In Massachusetts, a $200 ticket. Speaking for myself, that's pushy and selfish, and I very rarely would give a break. Maybe for a confused out-of-towner.

A variation on this is the urban driver turning left at a 6+ lane intersection who can not plot a single arc from one road to the next. So (s)he makes about at 45° turn, goes straight, and another 45° to connect. More often than not driving over the left turn sensors on the connecting road.

What is really sad is how most such intersections around here have dotted arced lines to guide the clueless to their proper destination.

On a related note, people in regular vehicles that veer waaay left before making their little right-hand turns- as if they were in a huuuuge tractor-trailer rig- either make me LMAO or *rolleyes*

No! I am a fairly aggressive driver, but this is one of my pet peeves. I hate it when someone does it up ahead of me and "triggers" the traffic light to change even when there are no other cars coming from the other direction.

Had a pick-up truck almost crash face head on into my sedan in a residential road just because the other driver was cutting corners in a turn. Other driver was embarrassed and backed up. From then on, I have started to preach the safety of "not cutting corners".

No but just wait until you meet up with an inexperienced trailer-puller, now that will make you clench the steering wheel to hang on, they often are watching their mirrors and not you as they arc the corner.

Hope they don't turn your vehicle around into the one crowded behind you which is normal crowding(no in between distance)Trendy Huh...? Real Trendy ... Real Trendy Stuff...

I hate the a-h's who cross over into oncoming left lanes because they are too lazy to navigate the turn correctly.

I have been in the left lane at a traffic light and had such corner cutters GO BEHIND ME.

Other than the obvious safety problem they are driving over traffic sensors in the road falsely tripping the lights to cycle green where no one is waiting.
