I leave for work early in the morning (5:15) and sometimes "roll" through the neighborhood Stop signs for convenience and to save a little time and fuel. I know I should come to a complete stop, but was wondering if anyone else does this?

That's a hefty ticket/fine. But when I'm out the door at 4:30 a.m., not many cars are out and patrol is light--maybe, after looking to my right and left and behind me.

Many stop signs should really just be yield signs

AT LEAST 90% of the drivers I see on a daily basis don't stop. I guess the other 10% are the ones saying they do stop are posting here.

I just think that "rolling a stop" is more of a todays trend, not mainly for the thought of saving fuel. Just like the driving thought of well "everybody" drives at least 5 MPH above the posted limits, like I know you do too!

Then most vehicles are automatics and they just want to creep away anytime that the brake peddle isn't held down, so the thought of creeping a right turn, or creeping a clear visual stop at 1-1.5 MPH @ idle rpms, then isn't a big boo-boo when driving on ones way...... "Really".....

So the problem of Boo Boos lies on the other traffic which commonly is driving 5 or more mph. above the zones approaching the stop in question. So this being a good possibility because it logically then seems a very large percentage of motorists do, a "Big Do"... Drive over the limits, very commonly do today as a trend. But a very "Big But" and then But of course...., Always....,!!! They....(same drivers) always make a complete Stop at the Stop signs (automatics) HMmmmm I'm convinced!

I am too fearful of accidents. If I can discipline myself to speed up and slow down gradually, my mpg will get a nice boost. Also, I hyper mile ;-).

The only time I might roll through a stop sign is in the winter months right after a snow storm and the roads are slick.

Not likely to save anywhere near enough fuel to pay the ticket.

Never! Especially after my wife got ticketed for "not coming to a complete stop" at a 4-way stop sign. She did stop, but apparently for only a fraction of a second, and based on the police officer's observation, at least 2 seconds of stopping time is needed for the stop to be considered complete...whatever.

Actually I have a distant view of two stop signs from my home area, that could be considered 24-7 viewing if I never bothered to do anything else.

Those signs have been there for years even when I lived elsewhere, they have been replaced by newer ones. The total stop efficiency I would rate at 1.5 % or less, that being only if no other traffic is moving near the area or(approaching).

The percentage time of observance is small but over any time of the clock(daylight hours) primarily. All types of vehicles, all age drivers, all refined appearance even classy vehicles, many or few occupants, A/C on/off, doesn't matter seems that all attempt to roll the stop.

Reasons I wouldn't know about like saving Gas or Time or just time lost is my guess, Drivers just don't like any inconvenience as simple as Stopping for just a traffic sign.

The only thing that makes it a big deal is that frequent other fast traffic that is not required to stop happens, those vehicles often are traveling much faster than the limits, at times 10-20+ MPH over the limits at any time on a daily/nightly basis. Fuel savings has only a slight connection(delayed) until refuel time/costs then are only thoughts for just a very few drivers........= A pat on the back/fooling the system(signs)! Trends.....? ! ?
