I leave for work early in the morning (5:15) and sometimes "roll" through the neighborhood Stop signs for convenience and to save a little time and fuel. I know I should come to a complete stop, but was wondering if anyone else does this?

Actually I have a distant view of two stop signs from my home area, that could be considered 24-7 viewing if I never bothered to do anything else.

Those signs have been there for years even when I lived elsewhere, they have been replaced by newer ones. The total stop efficiency I would rate at 1.5 % or less, that being only if no other traffic is moving near the area or(approaching).

The percentage time of observance is small but over any time of the clock(daylight hours) primarily. All types of vehicles, all age drivers, all refined appearance even classy vehicles, many or few occupants, A/C on/off, doesn't matter seems that all attempt to roll the stop.

Reasons I wouldn't know about like saving Gas or Time or just time lost is my guess, Drivers just don't like any inconvenience as simple as Stopping for just a traffic sign.

The only thing that makes it a big deal is that frequent other fast traffic that is not required to stop happens, those vehicles often are traveling much faster than the limits, at times 10-20+ MPH over the limits at any time on a daily/nightly basis. Fuel savings has only a slight connection(delayed) until refuel time/costs then are only thoughts for just a very few drivers........= A pat on the back/fooling the system(signs)! Trends.....? ! ?

I doubt anyone would roll through stop signs to save gas. It is common and much more so early in the morning or late at night.

I use to come to a complete stop before right hand turn on red. I used to stop at all stop signs till they started putting them in to halt shortcuts. After being rear ended the second time at a stop sign, the driver of the car that rear ended me said, "I didn't know you were going to stop". So now I roll thru them keeping an eye on my rear view mirrow. If your rear plastic bumper has parking damage you can get a new one by simply stopping as I use to!

Yey these late model vehicles today never well sometimes don't always respond to a voice command, like pets, extreme area noise distracts them. And the pets always want more food/treats like the engines......

Never threw, but past @ specific times, maybe 1.5 MPH. on a clear view all direction zoned 25 MPH. Location, only(being Honest)! Automatic trannies have a habit to creep, I utilize that as a fuel savings against Inertia, depends.....on the other traffic seen.

I see Quality stops all the time, about 1.5 % mostly, and that's kind-a new, Well..... is a deep subject, wondering what your automatic tranny wants to do in Drive mode.....?

My observing indicates @ clear view stops, certain low speed traffic areas, like 6% actually stop, the rest don't want to unless absolute necessary. All types of Drivers/vehicles, fuel savings only a minor reason, Time seems to be the factor(Hurrying commitments). Daily routines!

The reason is >>> most often, there is the rapid acceleration rate noticed along with the rolling non stop, to get moving again! That fuel effort, like HA Ha. Same feeling as 4 getting thru on a too short yellow caution.

Even cops don't come to a complete stop. Aren't they supposed to be setting an example? Let's get real people. I can't believe so many here actually come to a COMPLETE stop . . . . . .

My most likely recent attitude is I gave up being a perfect individual at driving a long time ago. I strive for fuel savings, good logic, safety, courtesy, and a benefit to others.

Now I do drive a vehicle claimed by its designer to be a perfection in use, loveable like a good pet, close to ****.5 perfection, "What can I say".... since tomorrow is another day to reach that other .5% "They" may change the 5 star ratings to 10 by then..... HMmmm..........

If you ride a ten speed bike and then out comes an 18 speed on the market, where does that build your ego? Older is slower not faster! Closer to >> Stop!
