I leave for work early in the morning (5:15) and sometimes "roll" through the neighborhood Stop signs for convenience and to save a little time and fuel. I know I should come to a complete stop, but was wondering if anyone else does this?

My most likely recent attitude is I gave up being a perfect individual at driving a long time ago. I strive for fuel savings, good logic, safety, courtesy, and a benefit to others.

Now I do drive a vehicle claimed by its designer to be a perfection in use, loveable like a good pet, close to ****.5 perfection, "What can I say".... since tomorrow is another day to reach that other .5% "They" may change the 5 star ratings to 10 by then..... HMmmm..........

If you ride a ten speed bike and then out comes an 18 speed on the market, where does that build your ego? Older is slower not faster! Closer to >> Stop!

no, the signs and lights are there for a reason. I hope you don't "roll" over a pedestrian or a cyclist some morning.

Illegal until one gets caught, then it involves something more to verify that non action. Rolling with the foot off the go pedal does save fuel up to the stop. Any stop even a near stop motion. The resume gets your extra fuel like Slurp or a Big SLURP! YEY...... Your Fuel......

I just don't see this as being a serious problem where some out of the way clear sight intersections are involved(4 way stop with clear visibility)in all directions.

Any 1.5 mph automatic tranny speed still allows a quick stop ability for the average driver (rolling stop). The advantage is, often the involved traffic keeps moving in those (shopping center lots)saving fuel/time/pollution.

The topic is about early AM neighborhood areas, where mostly traffic is light, visibility good, still drivers push the rolling limits which are illegal at any rolling effort. The big problem lies with the rolling speed getting upward to like 8-12 mph. sooner/later.

Human nature is "give an inch, Humans take a mile" sooner than later..... Why is that? Saving fuel is only a partial reason....Seems So!

In the West this used to be called a California stop. I guess some time in the past in California you could keep rolling if you could see that you had time to beat the oncoming car or that no one was coming at all. You still see it in Cal. too. not so much anymore as Cal is so crowded in some parts.

Most of the people I see doing rolling stops are doing it out of impatience and not to save gas. Around here they see another car approaching a 4 way and accelerate to avoid letting the other guy go ahead of him.
