Aint no MPG like infinity MPG :-P

I use my 28 speed bike for local trips whenever weather and carrying capacity permit, and I've made round trips faster than by car by not having to search and fight for a parking spot.
And I'm fit and slim and feel great.

I'm 61 and yes I both bike or walk when as you say carrying capacity isn't an issue. I've always done this and at my last yearly physical my doctor told me that I'm healthier than most people half my age :)

Even after getting a car, I used to bicycle a lot. Tried a few times to work(not in the dark cold winter). But hated the dense nearby highway traffic. Knew I would get flat tires from glass along the roadway. Finally, the physical work AT WORK, made dragging my tail from & to home on a 34 mile "not enjoyable" round trip just....... too too!!!

no... but for a time I did run to work, about 5.5 miles over a bridge... I did it about once a week, required a little planning, including having clean clothes at one end or the other .... it was for exercise, not economy, though...

wish I could - but 20 miles on the highway might be bad for my health in so many ways.
