It all depends on OUR monthly $$ budget recovery. The Weather has a lot to do with that also. Like the Summer A/C bill, water use bill, gas prices, any broken/household/things/repaired, ETC. (large list....

One main reason not to is, Highway traffic is or has become more.....? Bolder/Reckless/Impatient/Demanding/ "Krazy at times" Lacking Smiles but tense!

yes, but I drive my little car instead of my truck. It gets 3 times the mileage.

Driving those weekends help to burn up our stack of restaurant coupons, Nice before Winter sets in, then all vehicles tend to use more fuel for navigation. All the Winter vehicle preps drive up owner costs, Quality battery, washer antifreeze, tires, trunk emergency supplies, decent wiper blades, engine under-hood checks, replacement parts, cooling system prep, maybe alternator/belts/cabin filter, fluids replacement, don't forget the rear park brake cables lubed if necessary along with an exhaust sys. check!

After all that I need a Weekend jaunt to get relaxed to be able to tackle more pertinent stuff.

This year the gas prices had fallen somewhat, We then did a few weekend Jaunts(short distance). The other reason not to explore, was Vender's on the spot Food Prices were out of sight.

Many good restaurant meals could have been had at a much cheaper price, along with A/C and more quiet surroundings Seniors like that, at least some if the A/C isn't terrible cold, just for the employees working away.

Other reasons that curtail week-ends are a lot of roadways to the events are in bad shape, many severe cavity chuck-holes on entry areas of many businesses, mainly smaller malls, or craft malls, not the parking areas but the entries/exits, like WOW! Unbelievable at certain areas! So......

Does anyone make/sell a pavement bump grinder machine just for those rough areas, those areas that did get partly filled/patched by Booby-Boos, real(novices)! Rant...Day Speciality.... Delight! What ever.... Well....?

Yes I like it, but I drive for other purpose like shopping, church, hiking, etc...
I'm not going out for just driving with no other reason.

Doesn't affect us since we are retired. Try to stay home on weekends more and go out during the week in between rush hours.

Sunday morning is great for touring. NO traffic - like a ghost town.
Only thing shaking is the city cops slouched down in their radar speed traps 100 yards down the road from a "Reduce Speed" sign.
I use a Garmin to monitor my speed next to the last know limit for that leg of the trip. You don't get much warning though if you are not watching for signs real close, even when just touring and not in a hurry.

We have eaten out more than the last years of 2010-2013, mainly do to gas prices dropping, still not much travel on the week-ends. Those coupons help our incentives build.

That is no problem for me when I have the time off.
Wife and I was able to enjoy a 214 mile excursion visit to
see our new grand-daughter in Jax'ville, FL.

YS ,since fuel prices have dropped somewhat. I don't think food prices will ever follow along(eating out).

Depends on where we are going. Being retired it is easier and more enjoyable to drive during the week when
traffic is lighter.

Yes but only about 2% more than last year, are recent vehicle gets often 42-46 MPGs on calm warm days A/C on/off, but the extra driving lamps when on if needed drops mileage and so does headwind at highway speeds.
