yes, BUT ...

only before 9 AM, before the traffic congestion

I take the 1972 sports car out for some exercise (and a Starbucks for me), before all the homicidal texting maniacs hit the streets.

Other weekend hours, driving in Miami is frightening.

Weekends; I really thing if gas prices were to drop to near $3.00 or less, during Spring, Summer, Fall there would be more boating activity, recreation parks would flourish, tourism, and off-road events home or otherwise would come alive.

People strive to have fun on weekends after their routine work weeks, some more than others, that takes affordable fuel, driving is only a method but can be part of the enjoyment. Simple.... If you can't have some fun on any day or days people shut down on buying Dumb Things.... Big Dumb Things.... mainly! Social patterns are different for the majority/Weather effects...

If I have something to do, sure. I try to run all my errands on the way home from work to save a couple unnecessary weekend trips.

Just drop-out the THE also I love to drive the weekends, can't always afford it any more! Remedy is to start cutting my own hair, and back to Burrrrs or a turtle style........

I try to drive the least on the weekends, since I do most of it through the week, and hate the long lines at the grocery stores and at stop lights.

Cruising or taking a ride to relax while spending extra money NO, we cut that out, It cost more to go where crowds of friendly people gather then to just sit and people watch, yard/garage sales, by bicycle if it's paid for is more fun, take a cooler and biggie your ice water.... HAGreatD !

If you are referring to the old habit of a Sunday Drive, then the answer is an emphatic NO for most people.

A decade ago We traveled at least into a larger city, each time checking other shopping areas and taking in a meal at much different restaurants, sometimes a movie or event.

Decent gas prices enabled us to do that, not always on a weekend but any nice day. Light shopping, sometimes finding a good deal larger items, etc. That's past, 10 years of higher fuel prices curtailed the driving along with higher food prices and everything else, except small calculators...? Ink pens, g.. hose washers, etc.

Good Morning 1 Dragon2012,

Being retired/disabled I can do most of my driving during the week days. I avoid the weekend crowds, if at all possible.

Take care :-). MGY

I had in the past driven a lot of weekends even when working third shift to enjoy events 100 miles away. Then 70 mph. highway was realistic for me fuel priced close to a dollar a gal. Often rode the motorcycle to events. Now we Stay home and garden or fun ride in woods near home.
