It's a gamble. I try to find the best prices through gas buddys and if I find a low price and others are going up, I will fill up even if I don't need to. Most of the times, we fill up just under half a tank. We live in a cold weather climate and it isn't wise to let the fuel level get low

Unfortunately, in my area, most of the stations that had previously been pretty reliable predictors as "early risers" (their price would go up before everyone else's) have closed down. There was also a gas station that was constantly behind everyone else... I would never go there when gas prices were coming down (they would have a price that had been competitive 3-4 days before, hadn't come down yet), but I would always go there when gas prices were going up (also had a price that had been competitive 3-4 days prior, hadn't come up yet). Unfortunately, that station is also closed. Now, I just tend to drive until the tank is near-empty, and fill up. Playing the "guess when prices are gonna go up" just doesn't have much value given the current situation.

dont know what you mean. i buy when i need it and i dont drive all over town. if you do the math, even saving 20cents a gallon on 20 gallons to travel 15 miles there and back dont make cents... not to mention additional wear and tear on the car and you.

Believe me, it is very minimal in what you save with these so called discounts.

I use GasBuddy to get the lowest local price. I don't have to "Guess the Price."

No. I simply fuel up only at Shell gas stations close by. I also don't fill up until I am close to empty. Less overall weight yields slightly higher MPGs. Albeit, it isn't much but every bit helps.

I sometimes anticipate and fill up, but much of the time, I'm too busy.
