Price fixing doesn't work because almost everything that available for sale is an international commodity and most of what we have in the stores is imported. As OILERFAN says, the best thing is a fuel-efficient ride to which I would add that you have to drive efficiently too.

You can buy gas for $3/gal or wait in gas lines all day for $2/gal gas. Great plan.

Price fixing by the government has never done anything more than short-term gain, and overall negative domino effect when it comes to job creation. WHen you fix one price, then something else has to give and before long you're having to fix that to, and then before long, something else has to be dealt with. The best thing that can happen is for people to drive more efficient vehicles.

There's no need for the prices to be as high as they are.

Now who in their right mind wants fuel prices frozen at todays higher prices, I don't, maybe freeze them at a lower price for a while.

Freezing prices would be a start towards a "planned economy," which is incremental Marxism. And we know how well Marxism has worked!

The bad part about the government freezing prices, is that this is unconstitutional. Once they start freezing one price, they ultimately will freeze another, and another, and another, and eventually they come around to freezing the prices of your business (affecting your livelihood).

The only possible way for the federal government to put a freeze on gasoline prices would be to enact nation-wide wage and price controls. I don't think you really want that.

Price controls never work. Never. It's part of the left's dream of a world where "enlightened people" can control economics and the world would then be "just."

I can tell all these babies weren't around for the last time the government "froze gas prices".
Would you rater have expensive gas or gas lines with no gas??? I have a diesel so I'm not worried about gas shortages or gas lines.
