"They are boring to drive."

A Tesla is boring? I don't see me buying an electric car because of the initial cost.

I want a Tesla and they're a very innovative and forward-moving company. That said, I would use it very minimally and keep it highly maintained, much like a luxury vehicle.

Maybe some day, but we have needs that an electric vehicle cannot meet. An electric car won't work for road trips in Montana. Everywhere is at least two hours away, and we often travel 5-6 hours in any direction. We also need a vehicle that will do off-highway travel with relative ease. Her EcoBoost Explorer is for road trips, and one of my Jeeps are for the off-road trips. With what is needed to move the wheels at times, batteries just won't cut it.

Only if it says "Hybrid". I can't stand the idea of running out of juice with no place to get a quick charge.

I have a 2014 Volt and Love it ! I filled up in November and have used .7 gallons of gas in it so far, in seven months! Only reason that much was used was for the maintenance the car automatically does on it's own. If I do drive it outside the capacity of the battery it gets about 38mpg. We both work less than 6 miles from home and you can drive it on battery power up to at least 42 miles and it regenerates while you drive so actually more. It is a real nice car and more comfortable I think than the Pruis I used to have, and is definitely nicer than the Prius I had. Since buying it, I've only put gas in it the one time and it's been a joy to own.

IN A HEARTBEAT if I could afford it; was driving behind a Tesla S yesterday, what a sweet ride .... But it'd settle for a Volt or Prius, just have to get my money's worth from my current ride for the time being as it's paid off. But our next vehicle WILL be electric or hybrid.
