Just Bought one, and I got 35 MPG the first tank with a 70% highway 30% city and 33.7 MPG on second tank with the complete opposite, 70 % city and 30% highway.
Not bad, but still not 40 MPG... but hey better than my 12 MPG in my f150.

Anyone else have one and what are you getting??

Answer:
Yes on both parts. Skyactiv models have lower HP when compared with the previous models and is lighter. I know because I bought my mazda in 2011 and Skyactiv technology came out in 2012. I read and compared the specs and engineering reviews.

It's very typical that you will not get the posted gas economy as advertised. Those are ideal conditions. Gas economy will fluctuate with ever-changing personal driving behavior and traffic conditions. For example, you may drive 70mpg on the highway which consumes more gas today but you may drive 60mph the next day.

I own a 2011 mazda3 5 door (168hp). It has more horsepower and is heavier than the Skyactiv model. My mazda is advertised for 29mpg on highway. The best I get is 34mpg on the highway using cruise control at 55mph.
