All of my siblings have/drive a 3rd generation Prius,
but I am the only one in the family that is hypermiling.
My sisters are averaging about 44 to 48 mpg
I am averaging about 60 mpg.

I get better mileage than SWMBO just because I run a TDI, but if the question really is who uses the less gas in the family, then our dog Lucy, at zero consumption, is the clear winner.

The Great Woman Gene is extreemly hard to cope with,I drive most of the time,She likes that and She isn't a back-seat type control driver. Really a Good Driver. Not that great on dodging pot holes,debris in the roadway small bits of debris.
My complaint is her mileage suffers,She hasn't ever learned to ease off the brake-pedel as the vehicle comes to a complete stop. You know that jerky/lurch... as the brake pressure,rotors/b..pads grip the last milliseconds of motion with a butt/seat jerk, Human Butt Jerk...!
Come on Guys, you know what I'm saying, Opps..; Feeling.. then there is that silent look, "LIKE WHAT!! !!" "Nothing Honey,your rolling stops are great!" More silence saves fuel... dontuknow... That gene thing again...

When I drive the same car, my gas mileage is always better. For one car, the other family member gets 16 mpg but I usually get 19-20. For my Saab, I keep records of all gas purchases since 2005 and the mileage since 2005 is slightly over 26 mpg.

I notice the Wife's grip on the steering wheel (both hands),often She does better at mileage if the in vehicle conversation is of a gentle humorious tone,but any tence subject matter causes a squeeze grip on that S..Wheel. Often that wheel grip causes our mileage to drop off.
Grand-kids think the soft part of the S..Wheel contains sensors to discourage the driver from speeding,I say way too much TV..too much is not always better...Yes cars talk!I have a Fish that sings,thats 14 years old.
