Test drove a Subaru Legacy with the CVT. It's a different experience than with a regular automatic transmission. At the time, I didn't like it.

Of the 3 different cars I have driven with a CVT, I can't say I was terribly impressed.

Subaru having recalls of late. Their CVT is good by all accounts.

Had a 2011 Altima with CVT for a rental last June and loved it, as far as Subaru goes you're better off with the 5 speed if you wanna get the most out of that brand new 2.0 boxer engine in the 2012 Impreza...

No, but my Nissan Cube has a CVT...i learned new habits and accelerate more gradually and economy goes way up. Used to drive Subarus...they were well engineered at least then. No Subaru dealer where i'm living now,,,

Did not know it's out already, gotta go try it! BTW, for the higher MPG, you'd be sacrificing power. 0-60 time is like 10 sec according to some reviews.
